Insanely stoked for Beas next year. I think he has the heart of a champ and will be an every year All-Star.

lots of rant about Beasley and offensive potential ... not word about defense.

All those quotes from other players always talk about offense ... they know his D sucks balls.

Beasley has a choice if he wants to be a notable player in this league ... put defense 1st and let the rest of the game come. That simple.

He said he wants to be apart of the future here in Minnesota and according to Kahn, "he has never looked more forward to an off-season in his entire basketball career as he does this one to work and improve on his game." Of course that is just talk at this point so we'll have to wait and see but I'm really looking forward to see what he brings next year.

I think he is capable of being a star player in this league, but he still has holes in his game that need to be worked on before that can happen. He did show improvements last year but still needs to be consistent night in and night out.

living in Atlanta I dont get to see Twolves games often...what holes do you see?

Well ...
1.) He's not the sharpest tac in the box.
2.) He's immature yet by nature.
3.) He wants to be the man, but so far has not shown interest in defense.
4.) Turnovers ... he opts to hold the ball, read defense, and force shots vs. grasping ball movement ... again, not overly sharp.
5.) Gobs of potential that will remain unseen until he chooses to play the right way.

I think SCB ceiling is the Terry of tweener forwards.

His brain will hold him back...he can be an important contributer, and maybe a starter, but you probably won't be able to run your offense through him. If he learns how to defend he can be a valuable starter, but I think his offense is what is and his best role is as a safety valve on a 24 second shot clock or someone you turn to when you need a bucket, not a Kobe or LeBron type where they can initiate the offense.

Mind you, that's not bad, if he hits that level. That's still really valuable. He's just not going to be Carmelo Anthony.

Score more points than the other team and win the game. That simple.

I agree with those that think Beasley has star potential, but I think there's a very good chance that his lack of focus on the court keeps him from reaching it.

Yep ... you can do that if you can play "D"

I can get on board with taking Williams but I think it would be too risky to trade Beasley before Williams played a game. I don't like that idea at all.

I like Beasley as a basketball player. Going to watch some of the games last year it was obvious that he was a great shooter and knew how to score. I wish more plays were set for Beasley and less on our other guys. I think we lucked out in getting him for chump change, and it would be really bad if we were to get rid of him. Rubo/Wes/Beasley/Love is a fantastic core. Just need a more consistent Center, and of course a new coach. With our talent we should have won a lot more games last season.

BeasleyTheBeast wrote:How good do you think he can be?

I his potential is similar to Carmelo, just seems like a guy who can get the ball through the hoop.
BeasleyTheBeast wrote:Do you like Beasley? (as a player)

He's shown aggressiveness on drives but can also hit the three. Defense is what he should be working on this summer.
BeasleyTheBeast wrote:Do you want him to be a part of the Wolves future?

Yes.

I like Beas. I don't want to see him go anywhere. I just hope he's putting the right people around him to take his game to the next level and become more of a two-way players. I see a ton of growth and improvement happening under a good coach, and that goes for the entire team (except Darko. A new coach would probably hurt Darko.)

i think beasley had a good to great first year as a minny player.

we'll see what he's going to do for this upcoming season. he's here in l.a. working out last time i heard.

beasley's 2nd half of the season, he was hit with injuries so it's hard to fully judge what he's capable of. but we all know he did really well before his injuries.

The Wolves would be crazy to trade SCB at this point. He has star potential. When he shows the effort, his defense is not bad. The problem with the Wolves is that defense is a lot about coaching and effort. And when you have a bad coach and have lost 75% of your games, its really hard to give all out effort. I know people will say that is bad character, but I would argue that is just human nature.

Under Rambis, he was going to be the centerpiece of the triangle, initiating the offense and becoming the primary scoring option. With a new coach (still the likely outcome) that emphasizes a more traditional pick and roll scheme he will still get plenty of touches probably just in different spots on the floor. The biggest areas of his game that need work are getting to the line, rebounding (would like to see 7-8 per game) and facilitating the offense (would like to see 3-4 assists per game). He is a lethal scorer and I expect that will continue to blossom next year as he will be in his second year as a SF, if he can improve those other areas we will know he really approached the offseason seriously. I don't expect lockdown defense to come for another couple years at least, this team is still very young.
