MN/MIL/MEM- Wolves get Bogut and Mayo

Post#1 » by funkatron101 » Mon Jun 20, 2011 9:29 pm

Also posted it in the trade board.

Wolves trade: #2, Flynn, Webster, Pekovic, #20
Wolves get: Bogut, OJ Mayo

Bucks trade: Bogut, #10
Bucks get: #2, Pekovic, Webster, #20

Grizzlies trade: OJ Mayo
Grizzlies get: #10, Flynn

Why for Wolves: Fleshes out the roster. Upgrades two positions of need.

Why for Bucks: Get the #2 pick in a two man draft, a bruising big man on a reasonable contract, essentially an expiring in Webster, and a late pick.

Why for Grizzlies: Get a shot at a number of promising prospects (Burks, Morris, Thompson) and a backup to Conley.

I'd rather just take Williams and try out a Rubio-Johnson-Beasley-Williams-Love lineup. OJ Mayo is really nothing special, and while I do like Bogut, his injury history and contract is enough for me to pass on him.

What'd be better for Memphis would be Anthony Randolph and Wayne Ellington.

Flynn makes too much as a high draft pick and so would the #10 pick (without major CBA changes.)

Accepted. Would prefer to deal for Iguodala rather than OJ Mayo but I'm cool with it.

I'm on the fence with this trade. I really do like the value that we get and we should vastly improve with that move but I have this feeling that the ceiling of this squad wouldn't be too high. At best, I'm looking at a perennial playoff team, which in itself is great but you shouldn't settle for that.

Rubio, Beasley, Randolph, Wes and to a lesser extent, Love and Mayo, still have big upside. I'd do this and pray Bogut doesn't break a hip.

The Bogut bashing is getting out of control. Bogut on average plays 66.5 games/year while K Love averages about 71.33 games/year. Are you worried about Love's injuries too?

Really? Love has been the league half as long as Bogut. Bogut has played over 70 games in 2 of his 6 seasons. If you take away Love's 2nd year curse, it's not even close. Bogut is injury prone. To claim otherwise is either stupidity, homerism or trolling.

I'm still good with trading down to #4, picking up the best C available (should be 2/3, maybe all of Kanter, Valanciunas, and Biyombo left there), and using the additional assets gained to bring in Mayo.

It's the type of deal that should appeal to Kahn financially, since there's no big money coming in.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

What do you get for trading down to 4?

You're using an arbitrary baseline to support your theory. For example: bogut has played atleast 65 games 5/6 years in the league. Love has played more than 65 games 2/3 years. Now bogut appears less injury prone.

Dont twist the numbers, use averages.

If you dont agree with me you're stupid, a homer, or trolling. LOL!

The concept I floated, and I think I've seen others throw out there as well, would be getting Hickson from Cleveland and sending him as the main piece to Memphis for Mayo.

It's only fair to use averages if the sample sizes are the same. Not one half of the other. Unless you've got a crystal ball and can tell me that love will miss 15-20 games per season for the 3 years, then you've got no argument. Comparing them is silly.

The fact of the matter is: Bogut has been injured and missed significant time in 4 of his 6 NBA seasons. 2 of those injuries were significant. Furthermore, he just had elbow surgery. He's an injury risk, makes a ton of money and I wouldn't bring him on the team without consulting doctors.

If healthy, he would make us instantly better, can we stop bickering semantics and agree on that?

It sounds like Grizzlies fans bite, but Bucks fans call for blood if the #10 is included.

It would be a tough choice if Burks and/or Brooks are available at 10.

Yep. If Burks or Biyombo were there at 10 I'd much rather have one of them. Brooks I'd have to think about. He should have a solid future but he isn't there yet.

and I don't knnow what that "rayther" is.
