Good read Shrink. Thanks for posting. Some very interesting stuff. A few other things that were interesting:

-Not interested in Iggy because his contract would prevent resigning Beasley and Love. That would rule out a lot of other names, IMO.

-Kobe saying Wes is going to be a great 2. I think Kambla was raving about him as well on PA and said his lack of development is what will lead to Rambis being fired.

-Darko playing C against 2nd team behind Randolph.

http://www.canishoopus.com/2011/6/21/22 ... -wes-rubio

They will draft for best available, so he basically said if Irving’s there they will take him.

The agent of Irving claims they have a promise from Cleveland but that could be posturing (apparently this came up at yesterday's happy hour, my ticket rep came up after and told me this so I cannot confirm).

He does not like Gortat or Bogut as far as trading for and best fit on our team so ignore those rumors, when the names were brought up he basically just laughed and said "No."

They love Varajo but Cleveland has him off the table (someone brought Varajo up specifically).

He really likes Javele McGee, Gasol, or Bynum but he said not a chance in hell they trade Love ever, they will offer him a contract and Love is pumped about playing with Rubio....

He doesn't like Gortat or Bogut, but he likes Andy McFlopsalot? Huh.

I think we'd have to, unless we get blown away.

The one piece that I hope is true was:

Ronzone, through a 3rd party wrote: Wes Johnson is training with Kobe and Kobe has been saying Wes is gonna be a star. Wes is working only on handling this off season. He sees Wes as a 2 guard.

Great read, thanks for the link, shrink!

I've thought Darko would make a great 2nd teamer for a while now. I wonder how Darko feels about it?

The Kobe/Wes thing is interesting. It probably isn't every young player that gets to spend a lot of time in the offseason with Kobe Bryant. It could be a really great thing for Wes. Hard to feel bad about yourself when one of the best ever is talking you up to your face. The thing I wonder about is Kobe's motivation. Must be a legacy thing. Pretty cool, though.

The more I think about the Williams/Love/Beasley situation, the more I think the Wolves can ride this train for a good long while. Real contenders have top notch players coming off the bench. If those guys are all truly motivated to win and form a strong bond with each other, it could become a really amazing rotation.

Lots of people saying Ellis is available. People increasingly talking about the Warriors looking at Klay Thompson in the draft. If a contender can get their hands on Ellis it's going to be a big deal. Top teams to watch would have to be Chicago and Orlando.

I love the idea of Randolph bulking up and getting a more well-defined role. That could be huge for us.

Hooray for Malcolm Lee!!!

If they really are that set on bringing in a long, athletic Center, I hope that they find a deal to move back and take Biyombo rather than trading straight up for a guy like Bynum who is almost guaranteed to miss 30 games a year, every year.

What's Anthony Randolph's value?

Randolph's interesting.

Lakers tend to really turn talent around. If they can turn Shannon Brown and Ariza into something a guy like Randolph who loves the Lakers by the way could really be something.

Tell you what:

Odom for Flynn+Randolph

I would agree the value is good. It's tough, because Odom isn't going to play center - he's going to play 3/4, so we're piling in a talented, over-30, well-paid veteran where we've got Beasley and presumably Williams. We just got a report (from CanisHoopus, posted somewhere by shrink, I believe) that Randolph has put on 10 lbs. hoping to make a big push as our C, which would be fantastic if it worked.

If I say I can't get behind the deal considering all that, I hope I don't sound like I'm saying it's a lousy offer. It isn't at all, and I wouldn't roll my eyes at somebody who said the Wolves would have to add to it. But it just isn't a good direction for us to be moving our resources by itself. But value-wise, the Wolves are winning that one.

To be fair, Randolph adds 10-20 lbs every offseason, but doesn't seem to actually get any bigger.

See? We're not completely irrational homers,

That said, I'd be sad watching Odom instead of Randolph. I like watching Randolph.

That's a good point. But, what if THIS offseason...

It is in favor of Minny and I would ask for more but it's the basic premise of the deal. Essentially Randolph+goodies for Odom where the Lakers are saving some cash (no joke it's probably with the luxury tax about 8m a year).

Randolph's a strange player, I think he needs a guy like Kobe to ride his ass.

Kobe's pretty well known for that.

Think that was the case with KG too, but it took a few years for it to really show. 10lbs on Randolph's frame would still make him look fairly slight.

The guy is what 235-240 now?

Odom took years until he looked like a PF. Randolph was about 200 when he came out barely.

I'd rather roll with Randolph honestly. I just don't see the longterm benefits of adding an older guy like Odom.
