players who should/shouldn't go to Europe during lockout
I don't think Europe is for everyone. I think the players that really need it on our squad are the ones who are less established. Guys who could do with some more experience and a dose of confidence. Meanwhile our more established guys, probably shouldn't risk injury.
Guys I think should play in Europe and why:
Darko Milicic- this guys needs to get more reps, needs more experience, needs more playing time and just needs to get on the court more. Hopefully it would give him some confidence for next season.
Banging with Euros might help him showcase his offensive ability and polish it a bit for next season.
Anthony Randolph- Similar reasons, I don't think he lacks confidence so much as a set position. Playing team ball could help.
Wesley Johnson- Guy was never comfortable last season and could use EuroLeague to work on his handles and getting to the hoop. Furthermore, he could also become more comfortable shooting the ball.
Players who shouldnt go:
Ricky Rubio: Lets not even joke about him going back to Europe...ok?
Kevin Love: Kevin Love is already great (all star). Seems like the things he needs to improve in mostly would come from gym time and drills. (defense, conditioning, working out, etc.)
Beasley- Guy dosen't need to go to a team with a weaker supporting cast and shoot the ball more. He needs to work on sharing the ball. Again maybe drills would help.
EDIT: I'm aware Rubio would probably go back to Europe if lockout seeps into the season. As long as he has an opt out clause I'm fine with it.

Aren't european teams more team-oriented and strict? I also thought they practice twice a day. That would be perfect for Beasley, teach him what real work and teamwork is.

I never understood how the NBA could be considered "cushy". I could be wrong, but I don't think NBA players have it easy, maybe less practices but the style of play and schedules can be quite gruelling.
Either way
I really think Darko and Randolph would benefit the most. I just really think they need to get more comfortable in game.
THoughts?

I don't like the idea of Wes being overseas if it means being signed to a team. I don't want to risk an injury with him, and I think he'll stay busy enough working out with Kobe and doing the tour's in Asia and stuff.
If Darko signed overseas, he might never come back. I can't decide if this is a bad thing or a good thing.
Randolph would benefit IF he played the position/style we want him to play on the Wolves.
Either way it doesn't matter to me. I'd expect most overseas contracts to have some sort of option to opt out at any time once the NBA starts up again.

I wish Rubio would take Love, Williams and Wes along with him to some Spanish team this season. We might as well have something to watch, and let these guys develop some chemistry together.

Wes should not go to europe.
He allready can't dribble very well. If he goes to Europe he will become a rotation spotup shooter or Stretch 4. He needs to work on his game doing one on one drills and the like to improve his handles.

Darko doesn't need anymore seasoning. He was finished cooking long ago, and we just didn't know it.

I had the same thought.
I don't think any of them should go overseas (except Rubio to play with the national team). No need to risk injury. I don't think this lockout is going to last all season anyway.

Ellington and Hayward might as well, they'd be star caliber over in some of those leagues and its where they are likely going to end up any way. In fact it might be the best path availible to them for NBA success, let them prove themselves over seas and gain confidence having success ala Anthony Parker and then come back in their late 20's when they would be more sure of themselves on an NBA court.
I think a good deal of Ellington's issues stem from him not being sure he belongs in this league, he certainly has the skill level and jump shot needed to be a solid rotation player he just doesn't seem like he believes it himself at times hence the lack of confidence in his game.

I wonder if the NFL lockout ending has any effect?

Re: players who should/shouldn't go to Europe during lockout
It's interesting that every day there is a new claim of some star stating he'd be willing to play in europe. Yeah right. It's all a PR negotiating ploy. I understand fringe FA's like Songaila and Vujacic going, but I expect few if any starting quality players. The money won't be there (not a lot of spots open on the better teams either), and the game is so different (coaches much more involved, more half-court grinding, more practices, fewer games), not to mention the injury risk. I wouldn't want any of our players playing over there (injuries, messing with confidence). I expect them to hit the weights hard though and come back leaner and meaner (harder to lift weights hard during the season).
I expect a lot longer NBA lockout than the NFL one. The NFL is a financially healthy league, and it looks like the players are going to give up 5% of revenue after a 4 month lockout. The negotiations for a league with so many teams losing money, with no salary cap and fully guaranteed contracts, is going to be much nastier. I'll be really surprised if they're playing by January.
