I know. I just want to live in my little dream world where everything makes sense. You're turning all my rainbows into monochrome.

Setting the greats aside, a rule change like this would be more for the 99% of 18/19 year olds who simply aren't ready to make an impact at the NBA level. There's more to the NBA than just playing basketball. There's the lifestyle change and all the challenges and responsibilities that come with it. Kwame Brown is the poster boy for chasing the cash before making himself worthy of it. A few years of developing his game and maturing in school would have built his confidence up instead of shattering it to pieces and who knows how the story could have been written. Beasley too. I think it would've been wise for him to stay back and dominate the Big 12 for a couple more years while learning how to grow up more as an individual.

If we're discussing how the greats could get bored in college by not playing against the best of the best, basically I just don't think there's any player who could actually max out the college game. The true greats would always find a way to make new challenges for themselves no matter the situation. Tim Duncan for example. He was the #1 overall pick in 95 had he come out after his 2nd year, but he chose to get the degree instead. Even though he was playing against inferior competition he still found ways to improve his game each year, and then once he was drafted, boom, 21/12 as a rookie right off the bat. That's legendary. Could you imagine Howard's rookie line had he went to school for a few years?
Bet on yourself and believe in yourself if everybody doesn't believe in you. F--k everybody else. What do they know? If you have a passion and you want to put the work into something, then chase it. If it means something to you, chase it.

It's become one of the biggest differences between the NFL and the NBA over the past decade - in the NFL essentially every top pick taken (sans QBs) is expected to come in and produce immediately, whereas in the NBA the word 'potential' rather than 'production' is thrown all too commonly when discussing top prospects.

Every top pick taken in the NFL's first round is EXPECTED to produce immediately, but in reality, a good portion of these guys struggle to stay in the league a few years later.

As far as the NBA is concerned, a few guys are ready to play right out of high school and should be able to pursue that opportunity. The majority of potential pro basketball players have no business setting foot on a college campus - other than to make the school money and to entertain students and alums. I think they should have a chance to play with the big boys as long as teams are willing to draft them.

Like Harrison Barnes was ready to play right out of high school?

if the NBA could create some sort of legit form of a minor league I would like the baseball rule that you either go pro right away or play so many seasons of NCAA.
