Stephon Curry? Eric Gordon?

Post#1 » by shrink » Wed Dec 7, 2011 6:16 pm

The Hornets say they are most interested in these two players in an exchange for Chris Paul. However, both players have a downside, that

1. They will get paid big contracts soon

2. They could have the leverage to walk in 3 years.

Would you swap them out for a package that included either Derrick Williams NOH would lock up Williams for seven years, and he'd be on cheaper rookie contracts for the next 4. There is risk for NOH that he won't develop, but less risk they'll walk like Paul.

For us, we also face the risk of them walking on us vs Derrick Williams not developing, but I'd rather take the production in the hand.

Note that we are helping a rising west coast team add Chris Paul. Yikes!

What about just letting NO make a deal with those teams straight up and then swooping in and getting Okafor on the cheap?

I'd take Gordon for D-will, not curry since he is a PG.

Wouldn't be my first choice for a center target, but when the Wolves fail to get Gasol, Jordan, Chandler, Nene, or the latest somewhat pie-in-the-sky deal for Noah as part of a Dwight to Bulls trade, I'd probably be open to getting Okafor, especially if the Wolves were able to weed out the roster at the same time. Something like Darko/Miller + Webster + Memphis/Utah pick?

Would leave the Wolves some assets to get a SG, not that I expect that to happen.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

if we were to land Okafor, I'd have no problems offering a deal to Anthnoy Parker. We'd have 2 solid vets in the Starting lineup and Luke, Wes, (Beasley/Williams), Pek is a bench with some pop offensively

Yeah, Okafor seems like the most realistic option available, assuming Paul does get traded. Miller, Webster and a first should be enough to get it done, considering the amount of money it saves them for a guy that's somewhat overpaid.

Emeka at center would be a Godsend.

with hornetts rebuilding u would think he would be cheap to get.maybe we could do a 3 way with boston?

Boston gets paul
Hornetts get Rondo/Beasley/Green/Pekovic/Boston 1st
minnesota gets Okafor

we get a centre and another roster spot, boston gets paul and hornetts gets 2 good rebuilding pieces in Beasley and rondo

I don't give up Beas for Okafor, although I would probably rather do Pek than Miller, just to cut out some longterm salary.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
