This seems like a pretty bad offer for NOH, and I bet they'd prefer Rubio and filler. However, would we want to trade Rubio and filler for Rondo?

No thanks. Been waiting years to see Rubio play for the Wolves and would rather see him bust as a wolf then have Rondo and watch Rubio bust as a Hornet.

Rondo is better and probably will be better in most every facet of the game (Defense, finishing ability, speed, leadership, experience, and maybe a slight edge in passing ability among other things). If we were to trade an unproven player who could turn out to be a bust for a legitimate star in an area of need, it would be an absolute steal for us.

I stopped reading after hitting "finishing ability". Rondo can throw up a slick layup here and there, but offensively he's a liability outside of finding the open man. Ricky's left nut shoots about as well as Rondo, he's that terrible of a shooter. There's nothing to suggest that Ricky can't be as good or better than Rondo, and there's no reason he couldn't hit Rondo's kind of numbers within two years. I'll take Ricky on a rook deal than Rondo's 10+ escalating contract for three more years. Rondo is good, but he's overpaid. The second that the big three is done and out of that lineup, is the second you see Rajon Rondo exposed for simply being a quality PG rather than a great one. There is no reason to doubt that Ricky can't do any as well or better than Rondo.

I think Rondo is more of a product of the team that he's on than not...give Rubio a couple of years in the NBA and surround him with 3 hall-of-famers and a green light to do what he wants and I'd bet you get close to the same results.

Bottom-line I think he can become a 35% 3 pt shooter in the NBA, he shot 40% in the ACB one year, and I think he will get to the line some in the NBA and he's a decent free-throw shooter. I think he'll be productive enough to allow the rest of his game to flourish. If he doesn't get any better than shooter then he is still Rondo-lite which I can live with.

Rondo has wayyyy more experience than Rubio, come on now. He's won an NBA championship

Objectively Rondo would be a hugeee upgrade over Rubio and if the opportunity is there it's hard to avoid.

Having said that having Rubio is good fun and fairly exciting!

Rubio trades to teams with questionable futures always makes me cringe. Kahn visited Rubio several times, and it was at the very least implied that Rubio was to be the point guard of the future. As soon as Rubio signs a contract, we ship him off to New Orleans? I'm not going to pretend that Minnesota's the premier destination of free agents, but you might as well just send him to Charlotte.

I think Rondo is basically Rubio two or three years from now, but I have deep concerns about Rondo having to play on a losing team behind the scenes. I think I would rather take Rubio and his more palatable contract and run the risk of him not developing than to take an upgraded version with twice the contract.
