I understand that Beasley may not be the best fit here, but looking into the future, do you think Kevin Martin is worth more?
I question this because I don't see Beasley getting a contract bigger than Martin's, and he's certaibnly cheaper now.
They are both big scorers, but new rules limiting jumping into the dfender may reduce Kevin Martin's ability to score.
Beasley has size, and upside. Martin has the being low risk/attitude and defense - though I don't think he's great at it.
Who has more value to the league?

Right now, it's Martin, but in the near future, I think, it's Beasley.

Re: POLL: Will Beasley be worth more than Kevin Martin?
Yeah, there are several questions here. As far as future value goes you can't discount future values the way economists do because it's not a rate, but a probability. There is a chance that Beasley becomes reliable scorer on the same level as Martin, but what probability is that? Say 35%? Then there is the question of value relative to contract. That's just muddled as ****.
But I would say in general, two years from now, there is a slightly less than 50% chance that Beasley will be worth as much as Martin.

Beasley will probably make less and is younger. Those are really the only "pros" I can see for him.
Martin is more efficient, fits a position of need, and doesn't cause trouble.
It's probably a wash defensively. I think Adelman helped Martin, and will help Beasley.

This seems to be a good question, because it's not only appropriate right now, it also seems to have a wide variety of answers from different posters.

They both only bring scoring, basically, but Martin does it waaaaaay more efficiently. On top of that his decision making on both sides of the ball won't hurt the team like Beasley's will (i.e. turnovers, forced shots, giving up easy buckets.). He'll make the team better just by leading by example where as Beasley's bad habits might rub off on younger players.

Martin also knows, and thrives in, Adelman's offense...

Well Beasley is 6 years younger so at some point in the next five years or so he will have more value than Martin.

Lipoli390 on the ESPN:
From reliable source: Wolves are not interested in Kevin Martin. He doesn't play a lick of defense. Not a good fit for a team that desperately needs to improve its defense. He's also injury prone. Those are the two knocks on him. The Wolves have no interest in adding $12 million a year to the payroll given Martin's long-standing record as a poor defender and his tendency to get hurt.
Adelman is content to move forward with the core he has now, but he and the front office also have other targets in mind as possible trade acquisitions.

When asked about other targets:
Ballin - I was given one name, but I promised not to broadcast it. He's what I would consider an elite player who I think most Wolves fans would be thrilled to get. Nothing around the corner, but it's definitely on the Wolves radar. I'll also state the obvious: The Wolves will NOT trade Rubio or Love for this or any other player. Based on what I heard, I don't think a deal will happen.
Adelman is very content to move forward with the group he has. Ricky has been tremendous in practice. He and Love are developing great chemistry. Derrick Williams has a lot to learn, but I'm told that his shooting and athleticism in practice have been incredible. So far, Beasley has been all buiness and MUCH more mature. The coaching staff loves Malcolm Lee.

Re: POLL: Will Beasley be worth more than Kevin Martin?
We have $17 million paying Barea, Ridnour, Pekovic, and Darko. I think we'd happily take on Martin's $12M depending on what the deal is. Most likely the only players that interest Morey are Williams, Love, and Rubio, and since we won't trade any of them for Martin no deal is there to be had and this is merely the Wolves positive spin.
"Elite player"?
Igoudala? Plays defense, but makes more than Martin. Would be a ball handling/play making wing that Adelman desires. Seems like the most likely candidate. Wolves would probably demand Beasley was in the deal, not Wes for financial reasons. Don't think the 76er's would be too interested then.
Ellis? Same problem as Martin - makes a lot and doesn't play a lick of defense. Golden State did just draft his replacement though, so a deal from GSW's end is seemingly possible. Wolves could offer Ridnour + Beasley or Ridnour + Johnson + Pekovic/Darko.
Gordon? Potentially down the road near the trade deadline. I think he'll average 28-5-5 to start the year and his asking price will be too rich for our blood. Still, he'd be my #1 target - but seems unlikely.
Harden? Can't see OKC breaking up there chemistry this year. But see below.
Westbrook? Maybe OKC would balk at paying him a max deal and would prefer Harden in the long run? Wolves could make an offer around Williams.

I think Love and Rubio will thrive under Adelman. Barea may be the key to Beasley's success if those 2 can master the pick and roll. Barea and Beas need to be joined at the hip. Nice duo to bring in to lead the 2nd unit if they can get it going. Williams and Wes I hope can be used simply as cutters Rubio can find and they can really space the floor. Should be fun to watch.

Nice find. I think that makes me happy.
I was reading the rockets board today, and with their inability to unite the Gasol brothers, it sounds like many of the readers would rather tank. Kevin Martin was being suggested for expiring Chris Kaman ($12.7) and the LAC pick after the clippers got Chris Paul (probably in the teens).
Now, I understand the defensive lapses in Kevin Martin (McHale says otherwise), but Kevin Martin is still a whole lot of offense for an expiring and a middle pick. We could easily match that, with the MEM pick. I also worry about his contract, and how the new rules will hurt his game.
That said, would you want to inherit his salary if we could get it for, say...?
MIN GIVES: Brad Miller + Webster + Ellington + MEM pick
MIN GETS: Kevin Martin ($11.5, $12.4)
