I bet he has some nice stretches of games for us, especially in back to backs against teams with tired legs. He may never be a starter for us, but he's a valuable reserve with young legs and athleticism. He's in a transition period now with Willliams taking the backup PF minutes and having to learn the center position from yet another coach. I frankly wouldn't expect him to be up to snuff yet. Patience is needed.

Give him away for nothing? I think you're getting a bit too down on Mayo.

I think some of you are waaay to high on Mayo. He can't even win a starting spot on his own team, he is small, has some attitude issues, and doesn't play defense. What's the point?
We are much better off using those minute to develop Wes and Lee... Hopefully Webster can use them in a few weeks.
If we want a small scorer that can distribute the ball, well we already have Ridnour and JJ.
Do we really need another one? Really? Especially one that lost his job to a rookie, whose shooting has gotten worse, and that gets into fights with teammates.

Considering how many guys have given up on Wes and AR around here, I'm stunned how green you think the grass is with an immature idiot like Mayo, he's had 3 seasons with tons of minutes to show he isn't anything special.

I agree on going after Henry rather then Mayo. Henry has the potential and I wouldn't mind giving him a shot. I don't want Mayo on a team with Rubio and Williams (let alone Beasley), I don't want his head issues to affect our other guys.... plus Mayo isn't all that good.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Mayo's "attitude" issues are way over blown.

After a card game gone awry, Memphis Grizzlies teammates O.J. Mayo and Tony Allen had to be separated during a physical encounter on the team’s charter flight Monday, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Mayo owed Allen money from a card game, “Boo-Ray” and sources said Mayo became increasingly belligerent and antagonistic toward Allen when asked to settle the debt. Sources said Allen walked away from Mayo to go the restroom and returned to find Mayo continuing to berate him. Eventually, Mayo inched close to Allen, and sources said Allen hit Mayo.

“Tony warned [Mayo] to watch his mouth, and [Mayo] wouldn’t do it and just kept going off on him,” a source with knowledge of the incident told Yahoo! Sports.

Several players eventually separated the teammates, sources said. Mayo and Allen were brought into meet with Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins on Monday, and sources said the organization believed Mayo played the bigger part in escalating the encounter.
