Do Your Job Kahn
The Timberwolves are a very exciting team and it would be great if they can make the playoffs, I don't see any way they are going to make it if they don't solve their SG issues very soon, this problem did not just develope this week, its been a hugh problem all year and it is very clear that nobody on the roster is going to solve the problem. Kahn has never been afraid to make a deal, if they had a slightly above average starting SG right now, not two weeks from now, they would likely be in the hunt to not only make the playoffs but to get a good seed too.

We are fine. No reason to make rash decisions. You act like we are way out of the race right now. We are already in the hunt for a good seed, being just 4.5 games behind 2nd seed Dallas. Only 4 teams have a better in-conference record in the West than we do (OKC, SA, DAL, LAL), and we own the season series against two of those teams.

Yeah, what's with the sense of urgency? We're exactly 2 games behind the #4 seed, which happens to be a team we beat (Houston, and Dallas too). And we got to this point with a roster full of injured players. We are 6-3 over our last nine games since the team has been getting healthy, and the team has been consistantly playing better as the season goes on (last nights game being the exception). While there are holes to fill (same as every team outside of Miami and OKC), the only trade I have in my mind right now is doing something to get our pick back from NO. I just have this feeling that if we just barely miss the playoffs, this will be the one year we get the top draft pick.

Re: Do Your Job Kahn
I have little interest in trying to get the Wolves pick back, since not only will it likely be a mid 1st, but it would also provide incentive to lose for a better pick.
As for "urgency" to make a trade, well, the Wolves need for a starting SG (which also happens to be the team's biggest need in general) isn't likely to go away unless until they acquire a major upgrade SG from outside the roster. The only guy on the team who might end up eventually being the solution is Lee, who is A) a rookie, B) coming off a knee injury, and C) has not been a highly enough rated prospect to assume that the team is "good to go."
That doesn't mean that the team should spend all their resources to acquire a marginal upgrade, but they have to fill that hole at some point and should be pursuing a solution.
This has been discussed in a bunch of other threads though, so we could probably move discussion to one of them. Just a suggestion.

I don't think you need to worry about the Wolves having an "incentive" to lose.

Spot on. I've mentioned numerous times that the team REALLY needs a starting caliber SG (and possibly a SF, too). Kahn should be actively seeking a move that would give the Wolves that long-term fix. That does not mean he should make a rash move just for the sake of trading, however. If something comes up, be ready to pounce, otherwise, we are doing better than most folks anticipated so far so it isn't the end of the world to be a little patient.

I would be fine with Wes at SF if we can get a legit SG in here. You don't need studs at every position. And right now, we already have big-time studs at two positions. If we can get the SG we need here, that would take a ton of pressure off of Wes and allow him to be free to just play tough defense and be the high-flying athletic SF who makes the open shot from time to time.
As hard as I've been on Wes, if he can get out of this slump, I think he'll be ok. He's VERY athletic and can be a solid contributor to this team, especially if they can get a legit SG here.

I'm always impatient whenever the Wolves struggle, but it probably is best to just develop guys right now. There's no trade value besides Love/Rubio on the team to give the Wolves the answer they need right now. Derrick is the best choice, but teams are too reactive during the season to trade something good for him right now. (ie Jeremy Lin was useless a month ago, right now he'd get a lottery pick easily) The time to trade him was draft day or before, now we have to develop him or else trade him for lesser value. Same w/ Beasley and Wes except times 50.

I've asked this question 100 times but what SG do we want? who is Kahn ignoring or leaving under the table? I can't think of any SG I would want that we could realistically trade for.
