I was wondering why we don't have a play for this. Many games have come down to the last play and frequently there isn't enough time for a good inbound and a nice shot (like vs. Knicks)
I think alley-oops out of inbounding passes could be a viable option.
- we have one of the best passers in the game (Rubio)
- DW7ll, Beas, Wes, Randolph and even Love have proven capable of finishing a lob. The athleticism is there (except when you play Pek + 3 PGs)
Do you agree this might be worth practising? Are they any obvious drawbacks? What are your thoughts?

Re: Alley-oops on inbounding
Has no-one got any thoughts on this?
Miami used to win the game (against us!) and the MSG commentators were even suggesting we try something like this for our final play against the Knicks. Even if we used this only once or twice, opposing teams would have to protect the basket better, thus leaving more space for our shooters to execute a 'traditional' play.
Is Adelman perhaps against this?

Re: Alley-oops on inbounding
you don't usually have your PG doing the inbounding. Stick Rube or even Ridnour out there and they'll know that something is up and protect against it. I don't trust Pek or Love or anyone we have in the 4th to set up something liek that from the inbound.

He is in fact notoriously against alley-oops which he considers impure in the neo-classical form of basketball.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt

Re: Alley-oops on inbounding
we don't really have that super athletic guy to try a contested alley-oop layup.
also, Miami got that alley-oop but it was a nice action and someone was slow coming over, plus they had LBJ( i think it was him) inbouding the ball. If we put a pg to inbound they would cover that, as someone else already said.

You don't see that play be a success very often.
