'93-Calbert Cheaney
'94-Juwan Howard
'95-Ed O'bannon was pretty much my favorite college basketball player ever and that's who I wanted when we originally got the 5th pick. I don't remember changing my mind, but when we picked KG I was so excited that I saved the newspaper from that day.
'96- I wanted Ray Allen with the 5th pick, but I liked Marbury better and was glad when we made the trade.
'97- I don't remember but not Paul Grant.
'98- I don't remember for sure but not Rasho. I think I wanted Rashard Lewis, at that time HS players were consistently being underdrafted.
'99- Richard Hamilton
'03-Josh Howard
'05-Gerald Green or Danny Granger. I hated the McCants pick
'06-Rudy Gay or Brandon Roy. I hated the Foye pick
'07-Anybody except Corey Brewer. I think my order was Brandon Wright, Julian Wright, Noah, Thorton.
'08- Mayo or Lopez. I didn't hate Love, but I hated the trade because he played the same position as Al Jefferson
'09-Rubio and Derozan.
'10- Cousins- Once I knew we weren't going to draft him, I did my best to talk myself out of him. Saying Ok to pass on a guy those type of attitude issues.
'11- Williams.

When you look at the Wolves' drafts in their history, they are TERRIBLE at drafting players. And considering no premier free agents are dying to live in Minnesota, no wonder we've sucked for the most part. Obviously McHale's Joe Smith fiasco killed the franchise, but even when we have had draft picks, they've been busts.

The only real good picks have been KG (obviously), drafting Mayo then trading him for Love, and Rubio. One could argue Wally was a decent player. And, of course, there's still no way of really knowing about Derrick Williams, Wes Johnson or Wayne Ellington yet. We have pretty good ideas that Wes and Wayne are just bench players, but I could see that changing if we could ever get a legit SG.

As far as the 05 draft, I was disgusted with the McCants pick from the start. I badly wanted Granger. I was even more disgusted when ESPN showed McCants throwing his little hissy fit and then (seemingly) being sarcastically happy when he found out he was going to Minnesota.

Whatever happened to him, anyways?

started following the team in 99. I'll skip the non-first rounder years.

2003: would have picked Barbosa or Schortsianitis in the first round. Didn't hate the Ebi pick: he was a HS stud who had shown balls in his game vs. LeBron. Was really annoyed by the reaction to the Ebi pick and always wonder if things could have gone differently for him if his name was Joe Slater or something.
Rickert in the second rounder was homerville and I didn't like it.

2005: didn't follow this draft

2006: I was fine with Foye, Roy or Gay. I wanted Marcus Vinicius in the second round.

2007: I absolutely hated this draft and would have desperately tried to trade the pick. Gun to my head I would have picked Thornton.

2008: Gallinari. Pekovic was a no-brainer.

2009: Rubio for sure. Then Curry for a later trade. You kind of had to pick two point guards, but at least Curry can do the things Rubio can't, if the trade can't be made. Didn't hate Flynn but the whole Flynn-Rubio backcourt idea was nonsense.
I really wanted Budinger as he was slipping. Would have snagged him at some point during the trade down fest. I liked Victor Claver a lot too.

2010: would have traded down for sure. Gun to my head I pick DMC, but I would feel sick about it.
would have just kept Babbitt. would have taken Whiteside at 30, and Tiny Gallon in the second round.

2011: Biyombo, no doubt. In the Kahn trade down derby I would have taken Bogdanovic and Selby, and kept them.
Zach Randolph + Kevin Durant >>>>>>> Greg Oden. Bob Whitsitt>>>>>> Kevin Pritchard.

I have to start with Josh Howard. Holy crap was I pissed when we passed on him for Ndudi Ebi

2005:
Wanted: Danny Granger, but McCants was second and I was happy with the pick
Drafted: Rashad McCants

Net result: Granger was worlds better, but I can't take too much credit as I had McCants close to him.

2006:
Wanted: Roy, but Foye as a close 2nd. I thought Gay was going to be another Green and had too much bust potential.
Ended up with: Randy Foye

Win for me, but again I had Foye high.

2007:
Wanted: Brandan Wright
Drafted: Corey Brewer

Even.

2008:
Wanted: Trading OJ Mayo down for Love
Ended up trading for: Kevin Love, Mike Miller

Good job McHale!

2009:
Wanted: Ricky Rubio, Stephen Curry, Wayne Ellington
Drafted: Ricky Rubio, Jonny Flynn, Wayne Ellington

I think most people nailed Curry. So I don't feel like patting myself on the back here. But damn, that would have been a perfect pairing with Rubio wouldn't it?

2010:
Wanted: Cousins
Drafted: Wes Johnson

Yeah...

2011:
Williams

I'll start 2006 - I believed the hype and thought Foye would be Billups 2.0, The knee issues scared me with Roy and I decided to side with those preaching he'd reached his ceiling.

2nd round I wanted Paul Milsap. Ended up with Craigers.

2007 - after Jeff Green was gone I was cool with Brewer or Noah, and I thought Brewer complimented KG better. Then we traded KG.

2008 - Wanted Love or Lopez. Would've been fine with OJ. I liked both the Pek and Chalmers picks, and was disappointed when I found out we didn't have Chalmers.

2009 - I was betting we'd end up with both Tyreke and Harden, and was convinced we'd get at least one. I knew Flynn was going to be one of the picks if we didn't get both. Secretly, I was happy with everyone here as long as we drafted a PG and wing/center (thats right, I liked Thabeet).

I was disappointed in no Tyreke Evans, but super shocked and elated that Rubio fell.

I wanted to shore up our roster by keeping the pick at 18, but we traded a valuable player just because. And I was fine with Wayne, but was kind of wondering why Chase Budinger was falling so deep.

2010 - I wanted Turner, Favors, Wes, Monroe, Cousins, George; in that order. I'm still a believer in Wes.

2011- DW was always the guy if we couldn't swing a deal for Jonas.
I was ticked when we traded Donatas, and I was hoping we'd swing for the fences with Jeremy Tyler.
