Any interest in Toronto's Terrence Ross?

Post#1 » by Purple+Black » Fri Nov 23, 2012 9:58 pm

What do you timberwolves fans think of Terrence Ross? A great 3pt shooter/defender has a pretty high ceiling as well? The Raptors system isn't giving him time in game, he impressed in summer league though, I just don't think he'd be getting a chance here in Toronto behind Derozan, we're in need of a 3-man and Derrick Williams could give us some much needed rebounding from the 3, thoughts?

Other assets the Raptors would be willing to part ways with to make something work might be:

The 10mil expiring of Jose Calderon, who mind you would be a great point guard as well for you guys
Linas Kleiza
Ed Davis/Amir Johnson

Obv, it would have to be evened out from your end also

I liked Ross before the draft and wanted him before we traded for Budinger.

I think Piecake's idea make sense.

Wolves say yes. Does Raptors management really trade the 8th overall pick this early into his rookie season?
Thriving on mediocrity since '89.

I'd much rather go after either Reddick or Afflalo. We need a SG who is established, a good ball handler, and can pass. Ross has none of those three going for him right now.

I would rather have those two as well, but if this is what we can get, i would take it since it frees up money to sign Pek and Bud, and gives us a prospect at a position of need

but a future sf is something to think about too.

we cant just throw away all assets for players that only help as of right now. im not saying reddick or afflalo is a bad choice, but we also have to think about the future. i think shved will end up starting sooner or later. but the sf position for the future is important as well.

minnesota sports teams have a habit of trying to patch up teams quick as possible as soon as we get a good thing going.

I think Budigner can be that player. The majority of our team investment will be in Love, Pekovic, and Rubio. We arent going to get another star player at the wing and cant really afford one either. Budigner would be/is a great fit since he can shoot the three, and moves without the ball really well. His defense is somewhat decent as well.

Pek/find new player
Love/Dante
AK/Bud
Shved/Bud
Rubio/Barea

Id say that lineup can compete with anyone, especailly if Shved remembers how to shoot. If we get Reddick or Afflalo, even better

Both good points ... I'd go either way, cause bottom-line we NEED a wing that can shoot 3's and defend. I'd lke the experience of Reddick or Afflalo, but I dont think Orlando values DW. DW actually has a fit in Toronto and would embrace a new start and they merely give up a prospect. I bet Kahn would demand a pick in any DW trade to help save some grace.

Ross would be decent, but im not sure if he will be much of an upgrade over Shved at this point.

We should explore trading for Afflalo,Reddick,Jared Dudley, maybe even Monta Ellis.

Ftr Ross right now screams the prom date TOR/Colangelo didn't really want to go with but had to settle for. I think our board was Lillard, Waiters and Barnes and we didn't dream that both Barnes/Waiters would somehow be gone by 8. BC has basically done everything he can to hype up Demar as the marquee starting SG of the future so Ross really looks expendable for that reason. Demar is BC's SG, not Ross. So that's why I'm expecting them to trade Ross by the deadline. Other than Williams a move that would be very BC would be going all in on bad knees/about to ask for a max extension Danny Granger by trading Ross and Calderon for him
