Trade Proposal

Post#1 » by Kobe System » Sun Nov 25, 2012 10:21 am

Lakers trade: Hill/Clark
Minnesota trade: Williams

Why for Lakers: They get a young athletic "prospect". Hopefully, veterans like Kobe/Nash/Pau can help this kid grow.

Why for T'wolves: They get Hill that can help their FC. He can be their third best big men after Love/Pekovic. Definitely better than Steisma/Amundson/Cunningham.

Williams is also a shooting "big" who would benefit from D'Antoni.

I actually like it. Hill is better that Steam so he can find minutes here. But I would take Jodie Meeks over Clark. We need a SG who can defend and shoot form outside. Plus both guys are on bargain deals. So Hill & Meeks for DW is a go for me.

Looks like Hills can't be traded until Jan. 15. i think Williams will be gone by that time.

Id easily take Cunningham over Hill. Cunningham has been playing great. We need a SG, not a PF/C

So, the idea is to waste an asset to boost the 2nd/3rd string of the strongest part of the team, while leaving the hole at SG unaddressed?

Hill can easily get a solid SG in a trade.

So, why dont we just trade Williams for a SG and cut out you?

You can't cut out me, you have to cut me out.

You're assuming that team wants Williams. Most of the league doesn't because he won't fit next to most Cs. The Lakers are one of the few teams that have a low post threat that can make up for his lack of size. For instance the Bobcats who would send Gerald Henderson don't need Derrick Williams next to Mullens. They need a grinder like Hill.

Doesn't make much sense for the Wolves. Hill would be behind Love, Kirilenko, Pek, Stiemsma, Cunningham.

We have Stiemsma and Amundson to cover the C minutes behind Pekovic. Not exactly the best options but we'll probably go small with Love at the 5, too from time to time.

Williams isn't going anywhere unless we can trade for a starting SG in the Afflalo/Reddick/T.Allen/Henderson/Matthews/DeRozan mold by combining assets.

No. A power forward whose shooting percentage is in the mid 30's is pathetic. At least Jordan Hill is a good defender and gives 110% every minute on the court. What does Williams do beside thinking that he's Lebron?

What does Hill do that Cunningham doesn't do better?

With Williams you might at least talk some lottery team into his upside. With Hill you know what you get. A role player.

I would say Williams value is still a tier above Hill's.

The typical "This works for the Lakers - who cares what it does for the other team?" offer.

We're perfectly happy with Cunningham. Our need is for an SG. Maybe you could come up with a three-way, if you feel a team would prefer Hill to Williams?
