News today is that the Timberwolves were upset that they were given a hard time for not interviewing a black head coach mid-season when they hired Chris Finch, but IND received no blame when they did the same thing hiring Rick Carlisle. Guess who’s head of the Head Coaching Association? Rick Carlisle.

I was frustrated at the time that Minnesota got any flack at the time. MIN’s brain trust at the time was

Gersson Rosas
Gupta
Priglioni
Vanterpool
Ryan Saunders

Even if it was possible for MIN to interview diverse coaches mid-season (and I see no way that could have happened mechanically with Finch under contract that season with Toronto), but this was never about diversity. Those Minnesota guys are more diverse than virtually any group. This was specifically about hiring a black head coach, not a diverse one, and accusing MIN of not being diverse was crying wolf, and diminishes legitimate claims.

Well they've gotten flack, just not from the coaches association yet.

Wasn't Elston Turner an old Rick Adelman assistant?

EDIT: Just checked, yeah he was, though he wasn't here when Adelman was. Also was a finalist when we hired Rambis. How TF did I remember his name?

Doogie reports that the final candidates for the last coaching spot were between Turner and Lindsey Harding.
