Our main problems back then were bad interior defense and poor shooters.

Our main problems today include rebounding and bad defense and bad shooters. Which is something that he had back then. Somehow, were worse than we were 7-8 years ago.

I’m calling the KG curse. Until his Jersey is hanging from the ceiling. We won’t be any good. And, if we get lucky and make the playoff, we’ll be terrible and then the next offseason we’ll having great discord. And so it was written.

The rebounding difference was solely due to Love. He was an insane rebounder.

Remember how so many disappointed posters were clamoring that we couldn’t win with Wiggins, on his max deal, because he didn’t have a killer instinct?

I wonder whether these same fans will want to trade Towns for Pennie’s on the dollar?

The Wiggins trade was bad, but trading Wiggins in general wasn’t bad. Wiggins is still a role player on a max contract.

The killer instinct Wiggins still doesn't have.

Just because he's added us to his list of teams that he decides to turn up for doesn't mean he's magically discovered a killer instinct.

I agree with most of these posts. I also believe that Wiggins was never going to develop here. He’s been better in GSW, but still not worth anywhere close to a max deal. Russell wasn’t worth that either - the only reason he got it was CBA matching so the Warriors didn’t lose the salary slot if Durant simply signed in BRK.

But doesn’t this sound like the same refrain about Towns now that we already heard about Wiggins? Played A disappoints me, so we need to trade him immediately, often for some shiny flash in the pan? I do not consider Towns to be Wiggins, but people are mad, so they go with the tunes they know.

You don’t get it you trade towns now while his value is high before you lose him for nothing or his value decreases because he wants out.

I think that's a disingenuous hand wave of some valid arguments people have made in regards to trading Towns to be honest.

Outside of a few people carrying pitchforks, I think the majority of those arguing in favour of, or suggesting, a Towns trade aren't doing so because they're mad at him or think he's a bad player. Most of the arguments I've read are stating that Town's archetype is a difficult one to successfully build around, and that we've struggled to get it right with him being part of the core during his time here.

I think there would be very different expectations from a Towns trade than a Wiggins trade, but there’s never a good time for a bad trade. If you’re going to trade Towns, there needs to be quality coming back.
