…and during the postgame interview, Towns only mentions missing the three’s.
This happens a lot, where Towns only remembers any mistakes, and it makes me wonder about KAT’s mentality .. a mentality I share. No matter how well I do in a sport, regardless of who wins, I drive home dwelling on my miscues. How could I have moved my body differently? What should I have identified before my mistake?
Now, I think this introspection is important to improve mistakes - and I think we see that in Towns, particularly on the offensive end. However, it is hard on your motivation, if you don’t celebrate your successes and only remember your failures. In postgame interviews, Towns blames almost every Timberwolves loss over the last five years on his own mistakes that game. I’m happy though to see he is still so motivated to play - moreso this year than in the rest of his career.

We are embodying the next man up mentality. We had several players miss/get hurt today and another role guy just took their place. Great to see, that's what good teams do. Even the 2017 Thibs team didn't have this much depth IMO and we have a lot more potential.

The emergence of Jaylen Nowell, the resurgence of Beasley, the rebirth of Prince, and the resurrection of JMAC. I may be agnostic but this sounds down right biblical.

Which is why unloading this wing depth to get Simmons or someone was crazy talk. We have 4-5 wings after edwards and vando that contribute every game in one way or another. That’ll be highly needed come playoff time.

What we are seeing is that small teams cannot guard Towns. Small ball has serious risks and you see them more than ever against super bigs like KAT. Also worth noting that GSW has fallen to 3rd and may keep falling. I read today that Wiseman likely won’t be used in the playoffs and Draymond has no timetable for return. Wolves catching Denver and playing GSW might be a great matchup because they cannot guard KAT either.

I will disagree about Golden State not being able to guard KAT. Draymond will give KAT fits. He can't drive against him as easily as their other bigs and he can't post up very effectively against him either. They will probably double on the post ups too and though KAT has gotten better, it could still spell disaster. They will try to play like the Clippers do and that really messes with KAT's game. Freaking Nic Batum was a nightmare for us with that style.
