Thibs is looking for a bridge pg. Why cant rubio be that bridge? Then he can come off the bench once dunn cements himself as a starter.

Rubio off the bench next year or the year after is invaluable. And if dunn cant be a starter, then we still have ricky.

Id understand a trade if it shores up a weakness like a defensive sf or a defensive pf, but it doesnt look like thibs is looking for one yet.

I don't get the bridge pg thing. If I trade Ricky, I want to get a quality piece back in return. A starting PF would be my preferance. If we can't get a starter for Ricky, that should speak volumes to people here who think Rubio is great.

I don't think I said anything dumb at all. My assessment was very reasonable; I didn't insult or downplay Rubio's ability. He is a slightly better than average/mediocre PG in the NBA. That isn't an insult by any means, that just shows how deep the PG position is in terms of elite talent.

Slightly better than mediocre for a top playmaker and top-3 defender at his position? Sure, let's agree to disagree.

He's not even the best defensive PG on his own team.

Good calls on those. The bottom 2 don't start though, right?

Edit: I totally overlooked boogie because he's a beast (although insane). Monroe sucks, so does knight and tucker. Morris is serviceable.

From what I saw with Dunn in the last game, he clearly has a higher ceiling defensively than the Rube. Was it just a good night or can he perform that way with some consistency - IDK

Rubio to the Spurs. Parker has sucked for years and they haven't replaced him.

Maybe a first round pick for RUbio

As much as I would love to see Rubio play for Pop, I don't think we have much use for the #29 pick in the first round.

Since the Knicks are the big team rumored to want to make a push for Rubes, who would you be satisfied in getting in return? Drose + Kyle O'quinn? Would you want Noah and his veteran leadership?

I'd want assets from a 3rd team

Has this been reported? I know that the Knicks aren't exactly running the triangle, but that still seems to be Phil's long term prerogative.

What would you think bout this:

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=hrsbtgn

It would mean CONTENDING for a ring already for the wolves

Rose/Lavine/Melo/Towns/ Oquinn with a good bench of DunnRush//Bjelica/dieng/Aldrige.

Helps knicks too since they can go ALL Young core

Start: Rubio/Wiggins/Muhammad/Kp /Willy
bench: Jennings/Baker/Holyday/Kuzminkas/Thomas/hill/noah
With the vets expiring soon.

I'm not really sure how much better that makes us. Our defense would get even worse, and our one productive bench scorer would be gone.

Rubio kinda plays better lately but I am still supporter of this trade. It would be better if you could just wave Bjelica. He is very bad for Wolves, pretty much useless.

Yea, theres like a 20 something plus page thread on the Knicks board about it.

I'm going to be mad if we trade Ricky to give Kris Dunn the starting role when we have a great opportunity to make the playoffs this season. Dunn is great, Tyus too.

But Ricky is on another level.

There's a 20 page thread about Rubio being shopped (per Woj's report I am assuming) but nothing specifically linking Rubio to the Knicks.

The Murray guy the Spurs got in the last draft is looking a whole lot better than Dunn right now. Interesting fact, he was picked 29th
