Agree on this!
But let me also say that i don't buy this conversation that Edwards is already showing things that Wiggins never showed. Or people are with some lack of memory or is simple the hope of Edwards not turning out to be Wiggins 2.0
Wiggins rookie season was phenomenal as a prospect but he had the spotlight over him.
Edwards doesn't have.
Maybe that works way better for him.
Like you said...
"let him fly under the radar and build up that chip on his shoulder."
I do agree that we should be wary of revisionism but I do think there's a couple of things that Ant has shown that Wiggy never did.
His general defense is better and more consistent that Andrew's was in my opinion. His handle is also tighter and he seems more comfortable acting as a creator for others, something Wiggy never really looked like doing at any point.
From an off the court/intangibles scenario, he's built better physically than just about any rookie I've seen including Andrew. Also, and I know a passive personality isn't a bad thing (see Kahwi or Duncan), but there's a swagger and confidence that Ant exudes that I find encouraging too. Wiggy always seemed a little too comfortable and withdrawn in my opinion. I feel like Ant has a real thirst for greatness. Time will tell, I guess.
I do agree with a lot of those things.
I'm just saying that took 3 years or so for the majority of people realize that Andrew Wiggins was a bust (no other way to say it)
Until there he was pretty much untouchable in the eyes of most Wolves fans. Because he showed some things as well. Is not like he was this bad all the time as he is this days.
Another thing in favor of Edwards i guess is that he doesn't have to carry the offense of this team by himself. Andrew had to...
We knew what the issue with Wiggins was all along: settling for long 2s, not consistent at shooting 3s, not creating for others, handle awful, bad at team defense. We were hyping him up because we thought he could fix most of those things which would've put him in the all star category, but he fixed none.
What glaring weaknesses did Ant show? Probably shooting in the preseason, but for the 2 regular season games he's been shooting really well, so it's hard to say even that. He'll probably have some defensive blunders when expected to help or not to help etc, he might start turning it over too much, it might turn out he suffers from tunnel vision, tho I've seen him pass a couple of times when help came to cover him, but for now he's had a much better start than Wiggins, whatever the reason for that may be, so we gotta be excited.
