Exceptionally silly cap management, but oh well. Won't linger on it too much.

So, nothing else happened, not even a KA + stuff for Doug McDermott? That is disappointing.

I am furious they kept Moore. I am furious they kept Kyle. I am furious they are only going to sign one buyout. This was terrible decision making and sooner than later we are gonna pay for it.

That was never happening, Minnesota didn't have the contracts to accomplish that under the cap.

Personally, I have absolutely zero problem with keeping Kyle Anderson (despite my critiques of his play). I'm just pretty baffled about the cap management stuff; it seems incredibly negligent, barring a funky extension of Mike Conley strategy.

On a positive note, I think the Monte Morris trade is really going to help stabilize the offense of the second unit. Really solid at picking spots within the offense and making the right play. Very controlled player, should be a great pickup!

I didn't catch all the cap concerns but if we worry about Conley's bonus. It's not going to be an issue with this team. We aren't reaching the finals. If we do, paid the repeator tax is a small price. Also, couldn't we release players or buyout or something like that to fix it later?

Agreed. Anderson should be better with another high level shooter on the floor.

Very surprised they're willing to ride it so close to the tax line, especially if they are hoping to be active in the buyout market.

That said what are we looking at for players likely to be bought out?

Lowry, Fournier, Joe Harris, House?

For sure think we need to bring in a veteran wing for a just in case to fill in TBJ's role.

We have no contracts to reach McDermotts salary with Kyle. We aren't going into the tax to trade for a 9th man.
Fwiw I think Kyle is a better player anyway.

Lowry is likely to be going to Philly, Fournier/Harris seem pretty will cooked, and House isn't much of a shooter.

I'd give Leonard Miller a chance to earn some minutes, mainly because he's the Wolves best shooter currently not in the rotation (other than Garza).

Also add Marcus Morris and Dinwiddie to the list.

Dinwiddie is the best talent by far, his attitude kind of makes me question bringing him in. I'd take him, we could really use his shot creation and shooting.

Morris I wouldn't hate, he'd bring us some size and toughness that sometimes we really lack.

Note that OKC didn’t get Drummond, who CHI didn’t buy out.

Hayward is fine, but OKC needs a big, and didn’t add one.

We could have had both if motherf****** TC had moved that waste of pick/space Moore to anyone else. Is anyone more comfortable with Moore on the bench than just about anyone who got waived?

This move sucks PJ Washington is a great fit for Dallas's needs.

Charlotte finally got Dell's kid!

If Monte can be who he was for the last five years instead of who he has been this year I'll be thrilled.

I totally understand the "If Minnesota wins a Championship, who cares?"-mentality, but then having the Reapeter-Tax pushed back a year further to go all-in on retaining talent would be incredibly important.

It seems like a minor bookkeeping thing, but why would the team even put itself in a position to be financially crippled when the solution seems pretty clear?

Doesn't he essentially make the minimum? So if trading him clears room to add a buyout guy at the minimum, are you really saving anything?

He makes more than minimum and the difference is not small. Put simply you could replace Moore with literally any player and still save hundreds of thousands.

Wendell Moore Jr. makes $2,421,720, but the important thing to remember is that contracts are prorated, so the cap hit of signing a player would be based on the amount of days left in the season.

Yes, because buy out guys are pro-rated.

With 37% of the season left, a buy out guy’s cap hold would only be 37% of the minimum.

We've already paid 63% of Moore's salary this year then, so wouldn't that be on the books regardless?
