Re: The Rob Dillingham Thread
I will warn people that he isn't a particularly good decision maker, is a one-handed passer (this is a HUGE problem), has tunnel vision, and is horrible defensively. He has a ton of interesting skills that make him intriguing, but there is a reason why he went eighth overall in a pretty bad draft.

He's the next Kyrie Irving.
I see a little bit of Kyrie in his game, with a little bit of the flare that made Stephon Marbury so fun to watch in Minnesota!
The difference is Kyrie and Steph were much bigger.

Much bigger?
Maybe 1.5 inches in height / wingspan, but that's not much when you have never once in your life seen Kyrie or Curry do this:
He took off from the rim near Edwards territory. Could still be growing too...

Irving weighed 191 at the combine. That's much bigger than 164.

Ja Morant is like 6-foot-3 and 175.

With a 6'7 wingspan.
(And hurt all the time...)

Again, is that much bigger when Dilly is doing windmills and Kyrie is fully under the rim?
See the full context.
Kyrie is not using his size. He earns zero FTs! His whole thing is don’t touch anyone.
In short, pun intended, I don’t think Dilly’s size will matter just like it doesn’t for Kyrie or Curry or any other teeny fast guard.

I have zero clue about any of the players eligible for draft but it's so comforting to see that this guy shot 44% from 3 in college...I was tired of drafting poor shooters.

And my concern is the tiny guy doing windmills getting hurt. These super-aggressive, slight of build guys all seem to miss a lot of games.
If I'm absorbing contact, I'd rather be 191 than 164.

That’s not how these guys are getting hurt.
They’re getting hurt in their ankles stepping on people making moves, etc.
I can’t think of a time when Irving or Curry got hurt because they bounced off a guy and broke a wrist, etc. Maybe there are instances that you can show me?

I don’t know if he’ll ever be able to defend or have the ability to run a team sufficient to be a starting PG. He could be Garland, could be Lou Williams. What I know is he score and create shots, something we drastically need. If we had Lou Williams off the bench, we don’t lose to Dallas in 5. And Dillingham is not afraid of big shots, he’s an Ant-like irrational confidence guy.

Nice dunk. I stand by Kyrie and Steph being much bigger than the 164 pound Dillingham. I'm not saying Dillingham won't be good/great. I'm just acknowledging the size and defense concerns.

Re: The Rob Dillingham Thread
Rudy Gobert is about to be for Rob Dillingham what Steven Adams is for Ja Morant!

Rudy can't be Steven Adam's until he grows a pornstache.

my signature this past season should have been "Wolves need to get Lou WIlliams out of retirement" since I posted it about every two weeks

hopefully Rob can get to the FT line like Lou did

Re: The Rob Dillingham Thread
I've got Dillingham on the all-rookie 1st team next year with an outside shot at ROY.

He gets to learn from Mike Conley. I can't think of a better opportunity for him to learn how to be a point guard.

Re: The Rob Dillingham Thread
Fun fact: Jamal Crawford was also the No. 8 pick in his draft class.
Other No. 8s include....
1957: Sam Jones
1976: Robert Parish
1977: Jack Sikma
1985: Detlef Schrempf
1998: Larry Hughes
1999: Andre Miller
2006: Rudy Gay
2021: Franz Wagner
