Re: Iowa Wolves/G League talk
Garza's converting from two-way to standard wasn't about running out of G League eligibility. It was about making him playoff eligible.

Last year, but this year we were not allowed to make him a two way player. Every resource I check says the same thing. If you were in the NBA for 3 seasons as anything you cannot be a two way. I am very confused by this.

Years of service aren't added to your record until the last day of the season, not the first.
Because a player is credited with a year of service on the last day of a league year (ie. June 30), a player with three years of experience is eligible to sign a two-way contract at any time during his fourth NBA season.

Both Garza and Nix are fourth-year players

That explains the Nix signing. Thank you for finding that. By the way, while I was trying to figure it out, I happened upon this,
“ Additionally, players are limited to two years on a two-way contract with the same team.”
https://www.goldenstateofmind.com/22862062/warriors-nba-two-way-contracts-explained-faq#:~:text=Only%20players%20who%20have%20fewer%20than%20four%20years,different%20seasons%2C%20they%E2%80%99re%20ineligible%20for%20a%20two-way%20contract.
So Garza was not two way eligible with us, but he was with other teams.

It looks like he is 0.5 3rd string PG that you mentioned before. I can see why Nix is resigned now: he has size. The real question for me is whether he can improve his body to defend at NBA level. Having a 3rd string PG who is big and strong is a luxury. I believe that his 3pt shooting and passing will improve with repetition and hard work, the biggest swing factor is his athleticism.

Re: Iowa Wolves/G League talk
What intrigued me in video above is his 5 assist. In some sense Omoruyi reminds me Royce O'Neal, a big wing who can defend his position, hit open 3 AND move the ball.

Omoruyi is a pretty solid pick up, he played for OKC and for Washington, and has kicked around a few other teams I think. Definitely a hustle player - he'll do well for the Iowa team. I've seen a handful of his games and he's mroe veteran now than some of the GL talent.
Cheers

Re: Iowa Wolves/G League talk
Miller had 27 pts, 9/12, 2/2 3PT, 16(!!) rebounds, pitbull Nix 26 pts, 8/18, 3/7 3PT и 10 assist, Clark still looking for his shot: 1/8,0/3 3PT.
I really hope that at least Miller and Nix will be in rotation next season. Both address our needs: 3rd string PG and PF. Nix particularly fits our defensive identity. I like Miller offensive game, but his rebounding and effort are keys for his success.

Very solid numbers, but certainly not at "way too dominant to be in the G League" yet

Yeah, its more about small things such as rebounding(effort, motor, boxout technique and position), moving the ball, moving without the ball. Also interesting to see how he can play next another big. Right now he plays LeDee and Edwards, not great rebounders, but still solid bigs by gleague standards. So his 15RPG might be a little different than last season

Re: Iowa Wolves/G League talk
I still cant find right comp for him:
- active, mobile
- can finish with either hand
- good hands, which helps him to get rebounds in traffic
- improved body control when finishing around rim
- improved footwork when finishing around rim and shooting
- not much a defender
- not much an advanced dribbler (by wing standard)

I'm around Christian Wood right now

In his NBA G League debut, Minnesota assignee Terrence Shannon Jr. poured in a game-high 34 points on 13-of-23 shooting. Shannon Jr. added six rebounds and six assists.
Fellow Timberwolves assignee Leonard Miller recorded his sixth double-double in as many games with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Two-ways Jaylen Clark and Daishen Nix each scored 20 points while guard Trevor Keels chipped in 16 points. Iowa’s other two-way Jesse Edwards posted his first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
