I think we are seeing that 2024 probably wasn't a great draft for guards.
Now, you can hold that against Connelly like many have, arguing it's foolish to trade up into a weak draft class in order to fill a need. However, I do think that when you look at the overall group of guards remaining, Dillingham was the correct choice out of all of them to be an impact player.
Nikola Topic was injured.
Devin Carter has made less of an impact than Rob on a worse team.
Bub Carrington is playing on horrible teams and came in a clear step or two behind.
Isaiah Collier? Bronny James? Let's be real....
Connelly knew time is running out on Conley, and knew he needed to get a guy here into the development system. He did that. We can quibble about playing time, but honestly once the trade happened last September, this was about how I expected his development process to go. There are still questions around him, but I think those questions would have been there had Finch force fed him 35 mpg from the beginning.

Re: The Rob Dillingham Thread
i don't think that Dillingham is a great player, but i think that he is better than Finch think
when he is on the court somethings happen, he is the only our player (with Mike) that see passing line for Gobert and also some other
i think Dillingham in some other teams could was one of the 10 better 2024 rookie
the biggest problem is his defense. But also Shannon and Hyland going wrong in defensive rotation, they are not better

Finch couldn’t find a fish in a fishbowl when it co es to PG’s.
Just Let Dillingham play…
The worst case is sending him to Iowa - the land of the lost.
The next worse scenario is just sitting him. Zero chance he is bad enough that he causes losses with 10 minutes pt. Can’t take anymore of old man Mike.

Dilly getting better by the game. It won't be long until some of you jump on the bandwagon.
