Thought exercise:
It seems like when people talk about areas of improvement for Ant, the talking points usually point to guys like Luka, Shai and Harden as guys Ant should be emulating as he takes his next leap forward. However, I tend to think he will be influenced more by guys like Steph and Durant as he shapes his path forward. Those two aren't foul grifters. And I'm pretty sure Durant doesn't rely on the long 2s as much as he did when he was younger. So I'm not sure that midrange will necessarily be the next step forward he takes....

Midrange will be something I think he takes advantage of as the opponent gives it to him. Playmaking is one thing he is working on, I'm sure. That will make doubling him more precarious as he finds teammates for advantageous baskets. Being a Wolf, he can't get calls like Luka and SGA get because the refs still don't like us.

He was definitely starting to find a little bit of rhythm with his playmaking, especially on his kick-outs. However, the pick and roll lob threat is still too often a missed opportunity. If he keeps working on his kick-outs AND develops into a threat to throw up lobs, defenders won't be able to as easily hedge or completely abandon their man for the double. That's where Ant tends to get into the most trouble is when they send extra help at him.

I get that. I took a few PR/marketing classes for my communications degree, so the entire thing kinda fascinated me.

It fascinated me also until it didn't.

Should have focused on floaters, not midrange post-ups. Any improvement to his footwork is great, but a reliable floater would be a much bigger game changer.

I think the thinking is that midrange game is a step toward specifically improving late-game offense. Floaters are good to have in your bag, but not really a go-to move.

Giannis:
The top five players I think are Luka, Jokic, SGA, Tatum and me. And it depends on the year you're having. So if I, let's say, this year go back and I'm improved and I help my team win the East and we go to the finals and we play against whatever team is there, I automatically become the best player in the world. But if Luka does it, he becomes the best player in the world. If Jokic does it, he's the best player in the world.
When you get to that point, what is your preference? What do you like to see? My preference has always been to see a player who will not only be a good player, but will also be an example for his teammates. In behavior. It's not enough to just score baskets. To be a leader, it also counts in the locker room how you are and on the bus, and when you eat as a team, how you are, how you behave.
Anyway, whoever has the best year will be the best player. My preference is two-way players. I like one player, Anthony Edwards. I like him a lot.
I like Anthony Davis. See what I mean? I mean, I like Leonard, I like him a lot. I like guys who can play defense and offense and are dogs. When we get on the court, you know they're always going to give 100%. They might not play well, but they're always going to give 100%.

One thing is clear to me: Edwards is not yet an automatic post scorer like MJ and Kobe were.
