I'm starting to really like the idea of Gobert.
Remember this: Flip was hired as GM in May of 1995. We had a pretty good PF on the roster in Gugliotta and had a need on the perimeter. We took a chance on the unknown guy who was long and athletic. Worked out pretty well, no?

Agreed. Watching some of those videos, he is a man amongst boys blocking shots and causing issues in the lane. While our traditional post offense would be awful with Love and Gobert, he is the kind of guy who could really help the interior defense. The freakish upside is very intriguing.
With that said, no chance we draft him if we resign Pek or if Adelman has much say. He looks like a taller Chris Johnson who is 7-8 years younger, and we all know how much CJ played when Adelman returned...
Gobert at 9, Tim Hardaway Jr. at 26. Let's play!

Ten times? D'Okay...
No questions asked he would be the #1 pick if at 7'1"+ without shoes he is ten times better than ANY NBA player.
Give CJ 2" and send him to France to play against some of those guys, I am sure an amazing highlight film would be created. Youtube scouting, woo hoo!!

I would like Adams more than gobert. But Gobert seems like a straight up freak of nature.
Personally I would rather go for a SG than a Back-up big at this point.

I don't think CJ is as good as most here think. He's just not.

What if they're all off the board?

Klompers, I don't know bout you, but I think I'm 95% sold on Caldwell-Pope w/ the 9 pick and Muscala w/ the #26
I like Porter and Oladipo more, but I don't think either will be available. Shabazz is giving me the same feeling as Beasley did - super intriguing and I don't know if I could pass up on him if available, but he doesn't give me that warm fuzzy feeling. I think he has a higher floor though than Beasley- can't imagine him not contributing, I'm just worried about how good he can be and his fit. McCollum scares me too, small school and missed a ton of time, but he seems like a solid pick.
All in all I think it'll take a lot of effort to draft a player that isn't a benefit to the team, the question is which one of these guys is a big time difference maker

We are on the same page. My hypothetical was if KCP is off the board.
I take Gobert over McCollum (still think he's more PG than SG), and it'd be close with Shabazz.

Does Gobert have any kind of refined skills? Any ability to shoot, post-up or pass the ball?
Also, just watched the Muscala DX scouting video. Basically, it says strengths: everything, weaknesses: strength. Why is he not projected to go in the 1st round?
Also, if we could package 52 and 59 and move up a couple spots in the 2nd to take Solomon Hill, I would be very happy snagging him late.

59 has zero value.

Shabazz actually cares and wants to be good. This is why he is a safe pick. He works extremely hard.

But he's a liar, whose stock was always higher than it should have been because he was cheating and playing guys a year younger... he may want to be good, but he spent years being bad.
Jonathan Givony @DraftExpress 7h
Shabazz Muhammad really struggling so far. Shots not falling and couldn't create much in the one on ones. Did compete defensively, though.

Re: 2013 Draft Targets (#9 lotto odds, #26, #52, #59)
heck lets pick gobert
ther'es no more cheap centers around that is a shotblocker and plays above the rim
there are still many attainable wings
but i still want to go all-in for mclemore or oladipo
