Re: Trade Talk (Part Five)
I was watching Booker highlights last night and wondered how he could get on this team and I think the only way is if these things all align:
-Suns are way below expectations and have another losing season
-Wolves have a good season, make the playoffs and look like they are one piece away from contending, which intrigues Booker more than just wanting to play with his two best buds, so he demands a trade here.
-Edwards has a ROY season, Culver looks good in his limited minutes and looks like he can take off in an expanded role elsewhere and Beasley kills it for us as expected.
That will give us assets to move + we'll have our 2022 1st pick since 2021 will already be the Warriors pick.
Let me dream ok?

If Paul misses time, first part is likely. They will really miss Ricky.
If Edwards , culver and Beasley all play well this season that offer should be more than enough imo (and money works as well).

Yeah, Gordon type deal...or anyone in that price range...just would be difficult to come up with currently with rules on who can be traded currently.shrink wrote:Neeva wrote:IceManBK1 wrote:Aaron Gordon for Culver, Okogie, future protected 1st next? I still believe in you, Rosas!
I cant anymore stop overvaluing Gordon jesus.
Or at least suggest legal trades.
The only way we could match his $18.1 mil is trading Rubio, or Beasley when FA’s become trade eligible .. probably in February.
One thing that could still be considered....take a Nowell, Culver, or Okogie and flip them for a similar pf type (as I believe Davis is primarily just a backup C at this point....still very useful piece though). Ie-- Nowell to Bucks for DJ Wilson or Culver get you PJ Tucker & a pick back?
Unless they really believe Vanderbilt gets his shot to crack rotation to see where he's really at?

They have been raving about Vanderbilt. Maybe he is now a ready for prime time player. They know better than we do.

Re: Trade Talk (Part Five)
From the second both deals were signed I’ve thought Beasley for Jerami Grant makes way too much sense. Detroit has no SG’s but is decently deep at PF. Minnesota is weak at PF and is decently deep at SG.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

What a beautiful morning! Hope I hope Rosas will bring back our Jordan.

No more Martin wolves pulled QO though.

Not too suprising but I thought he and DLo are tight.

Do we still have the option of offering a 2-way?

Re: Trade Talk (Part Five)
So once we sign JMac to that 15th spot....then, we could technically come back to Martin back on that second 2-way....they just won't do that until they sort out JMac's future....need to keep our matching rights there.Klomp wrote:Midw35t wrote:Neeva wrote:

Re: Trade Talk (Part Five)
Still think there's a Culver for Hunter deal that makes sense for both sides....what else would we need to put in that to get it done?
Nowell or Bolmaro...make it happen?

Hunter looks like a bust and already 23 before season starts.

I'd rather stick with Culver. He is a year younger and was the better player last season.

Was he the better player? Every offensive statistic would say otherwise. Plus Hunter has the defensive versatility to play either forward spot, which is something we critically need. He’s a legit 6’8” with 7’2” wingspan. He’s similar physically to OG Anunoby.
I don’t know who will be better down the road, I think Culver has a higher upside while Hunter is a better fit.

Re: Trade Talk (Part Five)
He’s 6’6 and a half though and only averaged more points because he played more minutes than Culver. atlanta was horrible defensively, I find his defense overated.
Would like to see how Culver does this season.

Pretty much every advanced stat had Culver as being modestly better than Hunter last season. If Culver can maintain the 38% 3pt shooting he had over the last 30 games, I think he is clearly the better prospect.

Hunter: -2.9 OBPM, -1.8 DBPM, -4.7 BPM. -1.4 VORP
Culver: -3.3 OBPM, -0.7 DBPM, -4.0 BPM. -0.8 VORP
Hunter turns 23 in a couple weeks. Culver turns 22 in mid February.
It’s really hard to judge rookies, and very few are positive players. That said, I expected better out of Hunter, especially with his age. He was one of the five worst players in basketball last year. Maybe he turns it around. At a minimum, at least Culver appears to not be awful on one side of the ball.
I had forgotten about the wingspan, and you said something very appealing to me - OG Anunoby. Hmmm ....

I highly doubt Rosas targeted a player and traded up to get them in back-to-back drafts to trade them away in a package for another project prospect. Only in a deal for a proven or ascending star.
I personally want to ride it out with Culver.
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
