Unprotected picks plus Gordon and whatever else is needed to match salary. I'm guessing Tucker isn't involved.

That would be too good to be true imo. Getting back two starter quality players, a prospect, and 4 picks would be wild.

You do get that those will be 4 very low 1st round picks. I'd absolutely do it if I were Houston if they expect to keep Butler. They could just buy some low 2nd round picks to keep some cheap players around.

Still a horrible trade for Minnesota because they become a non playoff team for the foreseeable future in the West. Oh, how I do hope Minnesota fans get their wish of Towns and Wiggins leading this franchise.

I don't know if that is the best tweet and response tree I've ever seen, or if I'm just missing sesame street this much.

Unless Thibs is ready to give up on the season the Wolves would need Gordon back in any Houston trade. Minnesota's just doesn't have the wing depth to trade Butler without getting a playable wing back.

As far as 1st round picks, the 2019 and 2021 Rockets picks are likely to be in the 20s, so their value is somewhat limited. The real value in the deal would be the 2023 and 2025 picks, which almost have to be unprotected (since Houston could be pretty bad at that point and any protection would mean a good chance the picks never convey).

I don't know. CP3 is one bad injury from being done, he's getting up there in age. If he goes down, they are stuck with that contract and who knows how far they could fall

I would love to agree with you AirP. But at this point with Towns and Wiggins starting 5 year maxes it's all but sealed fate for the future. With Butler wanting out, I'm taking a crazy 4 firsts offer. I only wonder how spread out they are. Are we talking every other year because of the rules, so the last one in 2025 or something? The only other option is dumping one of Wiggins or Towns asap in a trade after confirming if Butler would stay in that case. Without that confirmation just pull the trigger on the highest offer for Butler. I hate it, but what else can you do.

Yeah, they'd be stuck with Harden, Butler and Capella. I really think you don't get how good these players are, you might get to find out soon though.

If the trade is Jimmy for Brandon Knight and 4 FRP than just pass me a barf bag. Wolves would be getting nothing in the short term.

It has to be every other year because the maximum amount of years is 7. They can't be spread out any further.

If Butler wants out because of money, Minnesota CAN keep him if they give him the money and with that, have a chance of this franchise becoming a contender. A good shooting guard and a solid 3&D wing is nowhere close to replacing Butler(hence Houston willing to do it). Not only do they get a top 15 player and one of the top 2 way players, they also take out another team that could have been trouble for them this year and for the next 3-5 years.

But at least the offers for Butler are going up which is good for Minnesota if Taylor isn't going to pay Butler.
