We have Love to be the passer, we need an athletic center who has somewhat of a consistent jump shot, rebound well, and block shots. I still like Aldrich tho, I just see Whiteside being the better fit for us.

I'm just as intrigued by Darko as I am Aldrich. If we can keep Darko for a reasonable figure, I'd prefer to pass on Aldrich in favor a wing player or a player with more upside.

It's ugly, but effective. Aldrich is pretty athletic as it is, and he can actually guard the post. Whiteside seems more like a help defender then a real post defender. Aldrich can do both very well.dunkonu21 wrote:moss_is_1 wrote:shangrila wrote:Aldrich has room to grow, he could still become a much better offensive player than what he is. He gets good position but his touch is kind of iffy. He is a force on defense, seriously his numbers back it up to an extent, but he does alot of stuff that goes unnoticed in the boxscore(kind of like Kevin Love). He disrupts almost every shot in the paint.
How does your post make Aldrich seem better than Whiteside?
Whiteside has touch, wait he has an actual jumper. Have u seen Aldrich's jumper? That's uglier than Corey Brewers shot has ever been!
You would like to compare their defense? I'm no stat guru so someone could try and kill me with advanced stats bla bla, but I am pretty sure Whiteside has more potential as a defender.
Whiteside has rooooooom to grow.

Prediction: Our front-court will be Darko/Love/Pekovic/Hollins next year. We will be drafting wings and only wings.

New James Anderson scouting report. Gets to the free throw line at a VERY high rate and is an excellent shooter. Sounds like what we need.

He's ridiculous coming off of screens, he barely needs any daylight to get his shot off. His TS% during conference play is a Hoiberg-esque 62.9%.

I agree with the drafting wings part but I have a gut feeling that Kahn is going to try for a Jefferson-Randolph based swap with GSW. He keeps talking about length and athleticism on the frontline. Who better? So I'm predicting our front court will be Randolph/Love/Pekovic/Hollins.

as long as they don't reach, that'd be fine if they went all wings, but half the 1st round on the DX mock is PFs or Centers, I wouldn't want to miss out on a superior prospect and take a lesser wingman for the sake of Darko

I agree. I think a Darko-Pekovic centre rotation going into next season would be a hell of an improvement over what the team has this year.

Re: Officlal Prospect thread
He got some mentions in this thread awhile back, after Vandy played UK, when he looked like the best player on the floor most of the night. Great athleticism, uses it best on the defensive end and finishing around the basket. Handle looks to be improving a bit, which is good because he's got a killer first step and it would be nice if he were able to take advantage of it more. He needs to put in some serious work on his jumper, but if he comes out he should definitely be in the mix of guys we consider if we get the CHA pick, or if he's there at the Utah pick.
This draft is a little underrated when it comes to wings. Very weak at PG aside from Wall, but very strong for wings and bigs. Good thing Kahn stocked up on PG's last year.

Speaking of Guards with a handle. Devin Ebanks is starting to separate himself in my eyes for the Bobcat's pick. Turner/Whiteside-Ebanks is what I'm starting to like.

Re: Officlal Prospect thread
I have heard that Ebanks BBIQ is a concern. Not sure what that is worth. I have been hot and cold with him this year. My recent scout crushes are Taylor, Udoh, Monroe. For me it is Turner only with the top pick. In this system he would be great.
Taylor reminds me a little of Wallace. He has a euro feel to his game and just seems like a smart player. He would be slightly a project and flat out cannot shoot, but his defense and rebounding/athletic ability screams Gerald Wallace. Udoh could be a big bust/boom risk. Guys with his size rarely have his skill set. Could he be the Randolph type this year? Gives me the same vibe. Height measurements will be key for Monroe. If he is a legit 6'10 he is my choice. Very smart player, great skill set, not the biggest athlete, but good enough. He would look nice with Love and an athletic big. I think he is a triangle offense type player. I think a lot of people are sleeping on this kid and if he is available with the char pick, and is 6'10, he needs to be the clear choice.

Re: Officlal Prospect thread
Rev did you just hint that Monroe can play SF, cuz I think u just did!
Ebanks really impacts the game. I've been trying hard to get a feel on Wes Johnson, but he just does not have a great impact unless he's shooting. Ebanks seems to have a pretty good base for an IQ, but not nearly developed. He does make some bad decisions, but with his handle he actually plays point guard at times (especially today with WV pg out.) He also has a very high potential on defense as he was guarding Reynolds (who abused him a bit, but he is a pretty crafty player).
I'll have to watch Taylor and see what I think though.

Monroe is easily my favorite big in this draft. Maybe not the best long term front court mate for Love, but I don't think we are good enough to be overlooking talent at any position.
Wes Johnson can flat out shoot, but for whatever reason, I never come away wowed.

Re: Officlal Prospect thread
WVU doesn't use a PG all that much. Ebanks and Butler have both played a lot of PG this year. Ebanks looks comfortable handling the ball in the open floor, but struggles taking his man off the bounce. He's a surprisingly good decision maker, seems to have a pretty good feel for his limitations and has nice defensive potential. My concerns are his jump shot, what the deal was with him flaking out earlier this year, ability to create in the halfcourt, and I wonder if that 6'7" in shoes measurement from LeBron's camp is legit (hoped he'd be taller).
I love Monroe. Aside from Turner, he's the guy I most want on the T-Wolves. He's perfect for the way Rambis likes to run his offensive sets. DX/Ford and to some extent .net are sleeping on him, but he gets a lot of love on realgm. It would be awesome to put him next to an athletic finisher like Taylor.
Udoh worries me. He's really struggled to put the ball in the basket against Big 12 opponents (.43 FG%). He's still active on the defensive end, but he doesn't seem to know his limitations on offense.
My biggest crushes for the CHA pick right now are probably James Anderson, Paul George, or one of the lotto bigs that could drop (Motiejunas/Vesely/Whiteside/Monroe, etc.). It would be awesome if Monroe were available there, but I don't think that will be the case.

Re: Officlal Prospect thread
I have watched a lot of Cuse this year and Johnson is a role player to me.
Dunk---no, Monroe is a face up 4 with good ball skills. If he is 6'10/6'9 he can defend the post and is a quality piece. I am convinced Al is gone this summer and Monroe would be a nice 3rd big with Love and a Center. I think he could play 25-30 minutes and be incredibly productive in this system.
