I'm not certain that if Harden goes to Philly that Simmons doesn't end up somewhere else and there aren't a whole lot more moving pieces. It could get crazy and we certainly could be a part of it.

PHI: Harden
NJ: Lillard/Beal
MIN or other 3rd wheel: Simmons
POR/WAS: Picks, prospects, and exprings
OKC/BOS/mystery team possibly Orlando: Tobias Harris + picks or Deangelo Russell

So you have Brooklyn trading Harden but passing on Simmons for a guy who's either possibly out for the year or definitely out for the year? Kinda looks like you were just looking for a way to shoehorn "MIN or other 3rd wheel" into a trade they aren't contributing to.

Both players are worlds better than SImmons,
Dame would be back for the playoffs and Beal would certainly be ecstatic to play with Durant and Kyrie long term.
We have no idea how Brooklyn values Simmons or views his current situation or injury history, or if it thinks he's worth ~70 mil of salary and luxury tax per year for the next 4 years.
And the wolves are certainly interested.

I think we can say with confidence that in a trade deadline deal, the ultimate win now team would prefer a player who is healthy enough to play over one that isn't.

Fine with me.

We better hurry up. We only have 4 hours and 24 minutes to complete the deal.

I have been worried about this for nine months. I’m feeling very relieved right now.

I think there is a reason there is silence...

It’s shocking to me to read the trade board now. If a poster’s previous view on Simmons was that he was super valuable, they are saying this trade shows they were right.

People that think Simmons was highly valuable say that Harden is even more highly valuable, despite two 1sts, Curry, and needing to re-sign Harden for $50.

Imagine, people thought MIN should give up Beasley, Prince, McDaniels and two 1sts for Simmons. If these offers are fair, would Harden be worth Beasley, Prince, Curry, McDaniels and four 1sts? Crazy.

I am in better shape and more well conditioned than Harden and I am pushing 41. Harden, not such a prize...AND still they had to give all that up, that is a clear reflection of negative value and some desperation by the 6'ers.

Harden has missed how many games this year? He is a cap killer, and his locker room presence would not be great for our young core. Glad we dodged the Simmons bullet.

....Ben Simmons just got traded along with two firsts for James Harden, despite literally not playing for over half of the season. What in the world are you talking about? That literally shows the opposite.

EDIT: I am self-censoring on this one, because my comment, despite justifiable, was snarky.

I think he was being sarcastic. As one of the most vocal anti Simmons guys, I don’t think he would have been a good fit here. That doesn’t mean he didn’t have value.

In the end Simmons had HUGE value bringing James Harden back for just one FRP in 22 and another in 27.
