Teague is also a much better finisher at the rim. Defenses will need to respect him more, which could make him a better fit.

Best combination of bbiq/shooting of that group imo.

Hate to see Ricky go as I really liked him. I think last year he started to show smore of what we expected him to be after having the life sucked out of him post injury during the Adelman Era.

The trade as it is stinks. What we do as the next move is key so I'll reserve judgement as this is first step to something hopefully bigger. I hope it's Lowry.

Ricky should be fun on the Jazz.

Same here, this is Layden/Thibs playing look who we're interested in while they snipe Lowry. They are smart talent evaluators, they know who George Teague is talent wise.

I have no doubt Teauge's their plan B who is a slightly better fit than Rubio with Butler/Wigg & allows them to go after a big $ PF it makes some sense.

Can't you all read between the lines here. Why wouldn't Lowry want to play here? Lowry was probably on his way to Chicago before we traded for Butler.

Usually reliable sources saying Teague to the Wolves is a done deal.

Can one of you explain to me why Thibs didn't like Rubio? Rubio is one of most underrated players in the league, and made you insanely better when he was on the court.

Like I said on the Jazz board, I was jealous of you guys during Rubio's rookie year. I thought you had a future top 5 point guard. I still think he has that potential at 26. We haven't had a true playmaker like Rubio since Stockton and D-Will. I'm excited for sure.

Teague is only marginally better at shooting. Horrible, horrible, horrible trade. Unless that late first round pick we got can be traded for something good or turns into a great player.

He can't shoot and can't finish at the rim. He also can't play off-ball and needs the ball in his hands to be an effective player. He has to be the orchestrator of your offense. If he isn't given that role he sucks. I think he is a really good player, but those are some real limitations, especially for how the wolves are constructed. It will also be interested if Rubio can be effective in playoff basketball when teams are going to create specific strategies to counter Rubio

I'd imagine that Thibs finds those qualities very valuable in a PG because if a defense doesn't need to respect the ball-handlers offense, then they can just sag and put a big monkey wrench in your sets.

Most likely doesn't think you can win in playoffs with a PG that opposing teams don't respect as an offensive threat

Gets dared to shoot

Good at pretty much everything else though, can win games with him in regular season

But Butler will have the ball A LOT since he's such a good primary ball handler

Difficult to tell since I haven't seen any official statement on it but it appears Thibs wants his wingmen to handle the ball and initiate the offense. Up until halfway through last season, and spurts during crunch time throughout the year, Wiggins was the one handling the ball at the top of the key. Ricky was relegated to being a spot up shooter which he obviously isn't suited for.

What I just don't get is why Thibs seems so set on having his wingmen run the plays but I'm just a fan with absolutely no inside scoop. For now, I trust Thibs.

Shoots much better.

A little bit better defender.

A little bit worse passer.

This is why I can see Thibs doing this. We just have to wait and see how it plays out. If its Lowry, its an obvious upgrade. If its Teague, its more about fit.

It's the dollars though

If its 1201 AM, 4 year $80 mil for Teague that is a disaster. Mosgov-Lakers level read of FA

PG FA market is crap, wait it out if its not Lowry

Teague is not anywhere near Rubio's class as a defender. Overall package Rubio >> Teague but not by a lot.

Windhorst on sportscenter was pushing the Teague rumors too

Again, I just hope they wait it out and don't have a deal at 12:01 AM
PG market is crap and there will be bargains to be had given how little $ available league wide compared to previous years

Seems like a rather low return on Rubio, sounds like Thibs didn't really care for him. With Butler being so ball-dominant, perhaps he will be playing PG for you this year.

Can someone explain to me how there's rumors about Teague signing with the Wolves being a done deal already? Wouldn't that be tampering since free agency doesn't start until a few hours from now?

My best guess is that we have a deal ready for Teague, but we're gonna see if we can get Kyle Lowry first.

At least that's what I am telling myself to keep me sane... Please be Lowry..
