I guess we can match MEM offer and trade Teague later without going into tax luxury zone. I just think we are trying to create versatile lineups that can attack and defend. While Tyus is my second favorite player after Rubio, I will understand if Rosas does not match MEM offer. My personal guess is that Nowell, Wallace and Culver can temporary fill a void at backup PG slot, it might speed up their development while can cost us a few wins. But in big picture I can see why we can afford it this year, before striking next summer. It is very tough for me to see Tyus go, and it is very dissappointing why we did not re-sign him for 25/4, but I will be very happy for him, if he finds his place in MEM.

I'm happy with him getting paid as he deserve, just don't share the pros of let him go.

By not matching you get flexibility, but not really before
2021-22. Even without matching next year we will be just a millions below the cap. To have meaningful cap space they have to unload Dieng which will be expensive on assets and is likely a bad idea. In 2021-22 Tyus would be expiring for which dump a salary that big shouldn't be hard.

The other positive would be tanking. I don't agree on this one. One because win games values your assets more. Second because I think the wolves will win 35 barring KAT injury and end up with the 9th or 14th best odds at the lottery don't seem more meaningful that make KAT wonder about his future here for such regression.

I think this is good insight, especially regarding the heavy switching. Guards like Jones and Teague don't really fit that defensive model. Meanwhile, we're acquiring lots of bigger guards. I totally can see us running consistent lineups with four guys 6'5"-6'9" plus a big, once this roster is set up like we want it.

IDK why, that kinda hurts. Great backup PG to have on your team, good luck on the Grizz, Tyus!

Rosas is making great decisions so far. I feel good about the franchise moving forward.

Thank god. I like Tyus....but we're not exactly drowning in cash.

I can't say that I'm pleased with our Teague/Napier PG rotation. Watching Jeff Teague dribble the shot clock away while accomplishing absolutely nothing is painful to watch, so I had high hopes that the Wolves would do something to upgrade the PG position. Unfortunately it looks like we downgraded, while also reducing our depth and having nobody that is likely to be around after this season. I liked the talk coming out of Rosas (going after DLO and rumors of wanting Garland), I just really don't like the results.

What a **** decision it was to not match this. Grizzlies gifted us a deal keeping us under the luxury tax with a fair contract for a top backup PG in the league.

I don't think this is a finished product yet, even if that PG group opens the season. I think they're looking down the road, not just at this season. Tyus fills a need this season, but I bet his contract would've gotten in the way in future seasons.

Tyus was a serviceable backup PG. I’d been fine either way, but this gives us a little more financial flexibility with trades this year. Being that close to the luxury tax, we couldn’t have taken back any more than we sent out (as opposed to being within 25%).

The shame in this is we didn't trade him when we had the chance.

Well... Wolves have cornered themselves for next offseason to get a PG. The market will be deplated, both current PG will expire and KAT is too good to have a top5 pick.

I dont think it is wise to do that where the league is going and when your best player isn't a playmaker. Culver better be ready.

Im glad for Tyus though. I know he is going to be a plus shooter moving forward and he will outplay his deal.
