I just had my first look at Haliburton, and he reminds me of a shorter Ben Simmons, but a more willing shooter.

That’s what I saw too.

I am starting to watch scouting reports about top10 PG from 2020 draft. Just in case we don't get PG before this deadline. I don't see any other way for Rosas to improve this team. Tank, scout, get high pick, draft wisely.

Jonathan Givony and Mike Schmitz have Tyrese Haliburton ranked #4 on their 2020 prospect list, fwiw. I think alot of people forget that he reportedly has a 7'0 wingspan, which is absurd for a point guard. Put that with a high motor, and his potential on defense is very high.

Everything outside of Haliburton's ability to shoot looks good. Every PG in this draft is flawed. I would rather find a younger proven guard already in the NBA. I think it is going to be harder finding players like Avdija and Toppin.

If Haliburton can play the same game Rubio played for us, i.e. defense and pass at the same level, it will be enough for me, because it could unlock other guys like Nowell, Martin. The question is how much he can improve his shot.

I'd be happy if he could, but If we can't find players who can be threats to pull up off the dribble or shoot off of screens we are killing any chance of building around Towns. I like Nowell and Martin but they aren't who I'm basing draft picks on. We can't have a team full of just spot up shooters around Towns.

Haliburton would be a good pick if we already had shooters.

Ok so say the miracle happens and we win the lotto...can we end the KAT at the 5 experiment and choose Wiseman?

Here's the interesting dilemma.....

I consider using 1 as trade bait....too bad Phoenix has no need for a center either. So do we call our shot on another guy at 1?

I don't really want to draft another player in this same mold, but I just have a gut feeling that Isaac Okoro is going to be that guy 5-10 years from now who has developed into a star and teams are going to be kicking themselves for passing on him.

I have no problem in drafting another wing if he has star potential.

The more I watch of all these guys, the more confident I get in Okoro being one of the best prospects in the class. The PGs scare me.

The PGs all look like they are missing big parts of their game. Cole Anthony's assist numbers are pretty low for a PG. Haliburton's form. Ball's outside shooting percentage and defense. Hampton just looks like he is really raw but has a lot of athletic ability if he works on his strength.

I have the same feelings about Avidja and to a lesser extent Achiuwa. This could be another draft they call weak, but there could be some big time steals after the top 5.

well I dont think that we could ever pass on Wiseman. The issue here is that we will need a top2 pick to have any chance to draft him.

I'm really start to increase my hype on Deni Avdija, maybe he does not fit with our timeline but I think he could be a really good player.

And your choice for PG's at our pick? I assume anywhere from 5-10.

Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball and Hayes will probably be gone by then, so who do you think would be a nice pickup and future starting PG?
I have really only looked at a few past them, but I really like RJ Hampton. Nice size, good handles, he could use a couple of sandwiches, but he looks like a future baller. Needs a better 3 ball, and if he does get one, could be a steal.

IDK, His teams are really struggling right now, and rumor has it, he's either playing hurt, or he has an injured wrist.
He's also pretty light, 6'5 and 170.
I will start to pay closer attn. when we kind of know where we are picking, and the NCAA tourney starts. I get tired of going thru my wish list just for us to draft a player we never heard of or at a redundant position.

I say hold off on DLo until the draft/summer. If it's too late, so be it. Nothing like making a panic move, get stuck with his huge contract, when there may be a cheaper option that fills the same need.

Just not seeing anything from the 2020 PG class that wows, and I think this largely the reason Rosas has been aggressively after Russell. Or ... are any of the PG's worth trading up for? Time will tell.

It is also that drafting a PG typically means that there will be a development time in a position we already struggle to get production from.
