Devastating choke by Golden State, I don't see a serious pathway to Minnesota getting the sixth seed.

They are 4 games up and we get 2 chances to beat them. They would need to drop an easy one or two but it is still doable. An untimely injury could also really help.

Re: Postseason Watch
Seems like every team we need to lose keeps pulling miracles out of their asses. I remember a couple of weeks ago when every eastern team was just rolling over for Dallas and Denver lol. Frustrating, we played decently and made up no ground.

There is still time. Especially with two games against Dallas and the tie breaker against Denver. One small bit of good news is the lakers are losing. Even if worst comes to worst and we finish at 8 we still get two bites of the play in apple and outside of The Lakers I don’t see a real threat to 8.

Re: Postseason Watch
We would need to go on a serious losing streak to finish below 8th. Like a 5 game losing streak while LAL goes on a 5 game winning streak which is unlikely. We also have a b2b against Portland coming up which would put us a few notches above them (10th seed) so finishing outside of the play-in would mean we would have had an epic losing streak to not even make it in.
9-10 seeds get scary, i've said this before, but the good thing about 7 & 8 is we get 2 chances to get in and we are guaranteed at least one home game if we lose the first game (which would probably be against LAC in LA if they get 7th)
I am 100% going to the Clippers game in LA for the play-in if they get 7th and we get 8th.

Re: Postseason Watch
Yea we have a lot chance left, I just don't like the idea of playing the Clippers ins a play in. They really seem to shut us down. The Lakers we have beat but I also don't like having to face Lebron, Westbrook, and AD is a balls to the wall playoff level game. They will be doing everything possible to play at a high level.
It would be a bitter pill for the team to have all this success compared to last season and then get completely clowned in the play in situation games and not make the playoffs still.

The good news is ESPN says Garland is out tonight. This means their starting and backup 1s and 2s are both out. As I mentioned above it is hard to run an offense without guards. I still believe getting out of this four game stretch at 2 and 2 is good enough. If we somehow manage to blow them out and rest our starters for tomorrow all the better. GSW has been slumping of late, and with a hint of luck we may be able to sneak out a win both nights (though again I don’t think it is likely.)

After Tomorrow night, things look a lot more favorable on paper. Still need to play the games. Will be real impressed if Wolves can win at least one of Cleveland and GSW and then go 5 straight against OKC, Portland, Portland, OKC, and Orlando. The big thing is to be playing well and winning games at a decent clip regardless of what Dallas, Denver, LAC, and LAL are doing.

Because they are 9 and in theory could get past us and move us to 9. Granted they have been losing and we have a comfortable lead, but they are not far enough behind to be ignored yet.

Re: Postseason Watch
Yea I am not all doom and gloom but it may seem like that. I am actually very thankful and happy we got that Memphis win because the way we played and how they have been playing this season (the grizzlies) that should have been a loss. That was a massive steal. I'm just frustrated that Denver and Dallas can't seem to lose games, they are rolling hard and it's looking like simply being decent isn't good enough, we will legitimately have to play very well if we want a chance at catching the 6th spot.
I have always felt like we were a slightly better than .500 team this season, we will have to play better than that level. Something like a team playing .530 ball. We will probably have to play more like .600 ball down the stretch to get that 6th spot.

Re: Postseason Watch
Something odd is happening to us. We were the best 1st quarter team for quite a while, now we might be the worst. 5 straight games of double digit deficits in the first quarter with 8 straight of trailing by double digits. Not sure why the starters are struggling to get going but we need to fix it if we want to catch either of the teams we are chasing.

I think Ant and Vando have fallen off big. Ant's offense has been missing and Vando has not brought the energy that he used to. Pat Bev has also taken a drop IMO but not as bad. That said, all three showed flashes tonight.
KAT has really been the only consistent starter.

Itcould also be that opponents have adjusted schemes. We probably expect a different look going in than they actually give us. Vanderbilt being affected big time by this, me thinks.

Beating Golden State would be huge, not because it pushes us closer to sixth (which is cool, but unlikely), but it increasing the chance that Memphis will be the second seed.

Why Finch is playing with some different defenses to prepare us for necessary playoff adjustments. The more advanced scouting is going to have a more dramatic effect on our youth (ie--Ant, Vando, Jaden, etc)._AIJ_ wrote:Lots of teams scouted us properly now they are having a difficult time adjusting
As fans we see the opportunity to maybe pull the long shot & pull a 6-seed....when in reality this is probably ending very similar to Memphis season last year....that's really where we're at & hopefully fans enjoy the ride & focus on the positive potential vs getting too negative if that's how it goes (whereas, most at the beginning of the season would of taken that outcome all day long)?

Re: Postseason Watch
4-2 since the break against 5 current playoff teams and 4 with winning records. Even though it feels like weaknesses are showing, we are playing tougher competition so that should be expected.
Next 6 games after tonight:
at Thunder (19-42)
vs. Trail Blazers (25-36)
vs. Trail Blazers (25-36)
vs. Thunder (19-42)
at Magic (15-47)
at Heat (41-21)
at Spurs (24-38)
FYI in that span, Denver plays Golden State twice and travels to Philadelphia.
