Trade our 5# picks and Shazz, get 5 picks and draft Luwawu, Skal, Sabonis, Hernangomez, Zhou Qi. Probably one of them could be an All-Star lol.

Could Skal be this years Myles Turner?

Baldwin hasn't really been talked about here, and I don't know much about him. I have noticed he has a giant wingspan (6'11) and was a 40 percent 3 point shooter. I don't know that he's on the radar though.

He's also a former high school teammate of Towns.

Just watched Skal's DX workout video. Loved him after the Hoops Summit but hated everything about his play at UK. However, he's going top ten, maybe higher, to someone, not us though. If he can improve his rebounding/toughness, he has some Ibaka to his game, as he he an athletic shot blocker that can stretch the floor. That combo is a unicorn in the current NBA.

Turner was light years more productive at TX than Skal was at Kentucky. Skal's problems are toughness and a lack of BBIQ. Those won't show up in drills. However, he was so good at the Hoops Summit game, I refuse to give up on him.

Skal has an 8'9.5" standing reach. Turner has a 9'4" reach. 6.5 inch difference there is pretty significant when talking up Skal's potential as a rim protector.

Not sure what Skal would give us that we don't already get from Dieng.

I don't want Skal, but you can't go by the combine's standing reach numbers. It's been reported on multiple sites that there were errors with that measurement at the combine. With Skal, he has measured at 9' or above on multiple occasions, that's probably more accurate.

Skal is definitely not worth taking at 5 however, he could easily be a impactful player in the league with the right role.

Jury still out on him but teams drafting from 8 to 14 will keep a close eye on him.

Better perimeter defense and he should be able to stretch the floor better.

Hadn't heard that, but makes sense based on the low measurements across the board.

I doubt both of those things.

Turner 22.1MPG 10.1 PPG 6.1 RPG 2.6 BPG .455FG%
Skal 15.6M PG 6.6 PPG 3.1 RPG 1.6 BPG .516FG%

In more minutes he was better but certainly not "lightyears" more productive. Anyways I think if you had to chose two players from last years draft and this years draft to compare, this one would be the most valid. In HS, both shot up out of nowhere in the recruiting rankings all the way to #2 on ESPN's rankings, both were the projected #1 picks going into college but had disappointed years and Skal is projected to go in the same range as Turner. Myles went #11 and Skal's most common projection is at #11 to the Magic.

When you go on the court, they are just as if not more similar. Both of their DX weaknesses videos are nearly identical and 3 of the 4 weaknesses listed for each were mutual: strength/tougness, offensive polish and fundamentals on D. It's a virtual copy and paste. Skal is also actually considered more mobile and a better perimeter defender so theres that.

If you think Turner and Skal had the same impact on their college teams, I don't know what to tell you. I watched a lot of TX that year and Kentucky last year, outside of a couple of games, Skal was never impactful. Turner on the other hand altered numerous shots and clogged the paint defensively.

What do you think the chances are that you try to trade up to #3 to take Bender?

If all it took was Shabazz I'd do it yesterday. We don't know what would Ainge want. he could be a real ass to deal with.

I'm sure he'd want more than that but who knows?

Or we could talk trade with Celts and Sixers where Celts pick Bender and trade him for Okafor and Sixers then flip Bender for Dunn and Shabazz. This way Suns don't steal Bender and have to settle for Chriss.
