50/40/90 is a tremendous feat. Only nine players have ever done it for a whole season. (Larry Bird, Mark Price, Reggie Miller, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Malcolm Brogdon and Kyrie Irving posting). I was hoping to see Wally Szczerbiak.

He doesn’t need to hit 50/40/90 to be a 50/40/90 type player. Flirting with it is enough.

It’s a great thing that he’s doing what he’s doing at this point in his career. He has the talent and now his mind is getting right.

Everybody freaked out when he and 1-d “bet on yourself”, but that’s what we should want and he’s doing it successfully.

Reid/Prince for Alex Caruso?

Wolves get a defensive minded back court partner for Edwards.

Bulls get Reid so they can avoid having to overpay the 32 year old Vucevic

I love the fit of Caruso starting next to Ant. Defensively, with Caruso defending the opponent’s best guard, McDaniels on the best forward, and Rudy guarding the paint, we could be very tough to score on, especially as Ant’s defense grows.

The Bulls are supposedly asking for two 1sts for Caruso, though, if the Bulls even decide to rebuild, the price is probably closer to one. I agree that Naz makes sense for CHI to move on from Vucevic, and maybe if we included the NYK 2023 2nd, that might be enough value. I like Prince though, so I would prefer to split up DLo’s deal for the matching salary. For instance, not NYK, but a team like them might do a deal like DLo for Fournier (2 year bad money), Rose (expiring) and a late 1st. Then we package the expiring with Naz and the 2nd.

But yeah, Caruso is near the top of my acquire list.

You think flirting with it makes him a shooter like the players listed?

He’s not even in the Kyle Korver/JJ Reddick type, that still isn’t 50/40/90.

So I listened to a podcast yesterday that decided that the team most likely to make a big trade was .. the Phoenix Suns. They have high expectations they aren’t meeting, and have all their picks.

We’ve heard lots of talk about a swap of Chris Paul for DLo. Early in the season I said that was a possibility, but now I don’t know how I feel about it. I was curious though if PHX could trade for DLo without using Paul’s salary.

It’s tough. Crowder ($10 expiring), Shamet ($9.5) and Saric ($9.2 expiring) get you close enough. There’s not a lot of value there (although we could re-route the expirings to other teams), but this would probably garner a pick. Another option is to add Cam Payne ($6.5, $6.5 next year, unguaranteed), since DLo (and Paul when he gets back) would take many of his minutes, with the added salary, PHX, who’s in the lux, could afford to take back Forbes and Nowell, and Naz if the pick protection is good enough. Next season, MIn goes forward with Payne and Shamet plus the pick.

I still think PHX is an unlikely destination, but if they don’t feel comfortable with Fred VanVleet, they may come knocking on our door, asking about Devin Booker’s BFF.

I’ve been killing Dlo for awhile, but I want to recognize that he is a very talented offensive player and has shown potential to fit into a defensive system. I also really like most of what he says off court. I don’t see how we can financially fit him long term, unless we are serious about paying the tax.

But let’s just say we can get him on a reasonable deal like $90 million over 3 years. Then we need to turn Reid, Nowell, Little Mac, and Phorbes into the best defensive, point of attack pit bull we can find. And they need to be under team control as long as possible. I don’t know who we can get with our weak assets though.

Mann, Caruso, GP2, Melton, Carter, Mitchell,Wright, etc. Are any of these guys gettable?

For me, I wouldn’t want anyone from phx except Bridges or Cam Johnson. It’s prob a pipe dream though. I can understand Paul from a leadership/intangibles standpoint but idk if I’d want him in his twilight years either.

How is an improving player the same player he’s always been?

I’m watching the guy since they had a team meeting, took the ball away from him and straightened out his priorities and I’m seeing more rebounding and defensive effort and I’m seeing swish after swish, makes hardly ever touching rim.

Yes, he has turnovers. Moments of mental lapses when he’s a passer. Yes he’s only so good on D. But he’s having his best season at 26.

I’m not saying I like that number. But going forward, that a normal number for a starter in their prime. Lavine will make $40 million next year. The cap continues to climb, and will jump again in 2 years. We should really discuss contracts as % of the cap.
