He's still probably the second best PG in the draft if he enters (his only competition would/could be Bledsoe), and would start getting consideration late lottery, likely to Memphis or Miami just outside of the lotto. It's good for us if he enters, could push some other guys down.

It's such a weak PG class outside of Wall this year. There's Walker and Bledsoe, who would likely garner mid 1st round speculation if they declare, and after that, nothing until the late 1st round when it would be some combination of Armon Johnson, Kalin Lucas, Sherron Collins, Demetri McCamey, Talor Battle and Jerome Dyson.

Glad we stocked up on PG's last year.

Good job, can't complain about a Turner/George draft. If Rubio comes over we'd actually have a shot at sporting a team with decent perimeter D. It would also be interesting to play them both with Brewer, have Brewer guard the PG and Turner run the point.

Decent big board as well. Johnson and Ebanks are a little higher than I'd put them, but I can understand the reasoning behind putting them where they are.

Good to see Darington Hobson get a mention, he's one of my 3 favorite players in this draft. Best player that none of the draft sites talk about.

everybody's Wolves drafts and offseasons look great because everybody has a top 2 pick penciled in.

strong chance that doesn't come true though, even with the second worst record in the NBA

Did ESPN's sim

2nd
5th - Johnson
3rd - Favors
1st
1st
5th
1st
4th - Cousins
5th
2nd

So chances are we either win the lottery, or fall out of the top 3 completely.

Unathletic face up 4 who's an above average passer and below average defender.

Monroe's not unathletic, he's more just not explosive. He's developed pretty well on the defensive end, although there are still consistency issues to shore up. He and Love just play so differently and are built so differently that I don't see the comparison.
Ok, maybe he's changed a lot since I last saw him (and I'll be honest it's been a long while) but has he suddenly exploded as some excellent post player? The last time I saw him he struggled scoring against physical post players which would sotp him from ever being a team's top post option.

He's doing a good job getting to the line (6.4 FTA/G in conference play and 1.7:1 FGA/FTA ratio) and showing a nice arsenal of pump fakes, footwork, baby hook, and around the rim finishes. A good example was his last game against Syracuse. Jackson and Onuaku are two physical big men with NBA size (although dubious NBA futures). Monroe struggled his first time out against them, but in the second meeting, after being subbed in and out of the 1st half due to foul trouble, he took over the second half and brought the Hoyas back from a 25 point defecit to having a chance to win with a minute left. He completely worked over both of the 'Cuse's physical bigs and ended up fouling both out of the game while getting to the line 14 times. I think he's got as good a shot as any big in this draft at becoming a team's top post option, and the passing ability to make for a great #2 overall option for a team.
I just get worried with how much slower he gets whenever he comes near a weight bench. Sure he's fairly average now but he'll need to add muscle if he ever expects to play even spot centre minutes in the NBA, but if he gets any slower he'll be useless.

Getting slower is a concern, but he's above average from a mobility standpoint at a weight somewhere between 240-250 lbs. There aren't as many behemoths in the NBA as there used to be.
He looks to fit perfectly into the way Rambis likes to run his offense, and have the potential to be a #2 option that complements a wing scorer very well.

I have a question. What happens to Love then?

We keep him? I don't see Love as a #2 option, and I don't see them being as redundant as you do.

Here is the Dr's new dream scenario ---

Rubio/Turner/Henry/Monroe/Darko w/ Flynn/Brewer/Love/Pekovic off the bench

So...

1) Get #2 in lottery, Get Bobs pick at #13

2) Trade Jefferson for Prince + #8

3) Draft Monroe w/ #8

4) Draft Henry w/ #13

5) Resign Darko for 1 year @4M/yr w/ mutual option for 2nd year

6) Bring over Pekovic @ $4M/yr

8) Draft Varnado w/ Utah (just to please DSW)

9) With left over $ sign bargain free agents for future assets a la Sessions last year, or absorb a contract for future assets

Next Year --
Flynn/Sessions (Rubio)
Turner/Brewer/Ellington
Prince/Henry/Gomes
Monroe/Love/Varnado
Darko/Pekovic

Trade Gomes + Sessions

Year After --
Rubio/Flynn
Turner/Ellington
Henry/Brewer
Monroe/Love/Varnado
Darko/Pekovic

Bonus points if you can move #13 + Prince + Sessions or cap for tradeup on Johnson

Can someone explain why Turner is considered a SG, while Johnson is a SF? If you ask me it seems the other way around.

I think because Johnson doesn't have the offensive game of a SG, i.e. no handle therefore limited ability to create for himself or others.

Could Johnson be sliding toward the back of the top ten? I think he might be getting a little underrated. After watching early in the season and watching now, I think the injury to his shooting hand is effecting him more than we realize.

Turner can be a 2 or 3. Depends on his height. if he is a legit 6'8 then it is similar to Joe Johnson. Fact is positions are blurring. You throw him out there and let him do his thing.

Weird thing is many of the SG I think of as prototypes (Houston, Miller) did not have the handles, but many SF (hill, Pippen) had crazy handles.

I second the approval, and while the idea of swinging Prince elsewhere for cap purposes is appealing, I would almost rather have Henry than Johnson.

However the general idea is awesome and if we can leave this draft with Turner + Monroe I will be almost forced to fly out and see some games next year.

Naw, you can sub Henry or George in for Johnson pretty easily.
