I hope Glen Taylor understands that 4 picks is an investment.

I kinda like this perspective on the picks and on the trade decision as a whole. At this point, I think Glen knows he's probably not going to own the team for too much longer. Adding extra draft capital could probably make the team more attractive to prospective buyers than role players, which seems to be all we're getting in other rumored offers.

Okogie has been very good so far, that is true. Also, I think that if/when Butler goes and this drama dies, the team is going to gel pretty fast. I expect a lot from KAT, and I think that you can make it.

I'm glad you expect a lot from Kat because I would like to offer him in a trade to the Bucks for some of their special players.

Right, but you "pretend" as if you might take the deal, this gives us a little more leverage with any other offers. Miami, "might" up the offer to something that is fair. (Or as fair as can be.) At this point I can tell the locker room is divided, and KAT pulls himself off the floor, and Jimmy doesn't seem to want to pass to him.

If it was done before, it would have to be Knight for Taj’s expiring, and simulataneously Eric Gordon plus “something small” for Butler... plus the picks.

Maybe you should check Twitter a lot. Jimmy Butler has been scratched from tonight’s game with an “unspecified illness.”

Including Taj’s expiring for Gordon makes this better for HOU (certainly tax-wise), and worse for MIN.

Maybe Morey can con Taylor into it with the headline "four first-round picks!" and hope nobody really examines what those picks would be.

I guess Houston could be looking at a rebuild by 2025, if not 2023, so they can't afford to give those picks up if they're in the lottery.

I'd say that's the whole point of the offer. You're helping them to shed unwanted salary, get back a couple of bad 1st round picks and maybe something of real value somewhere down the line when your current core is approaching 30. What's the point of that?

For people that are worried that HOU is so good, all the picks will be great, I want to point out that success is fleeting in the nba. In fact, for most teams, success is cyclical. If you want good picks in 5-7 years, it’s best to get unprotected picks from good teams, not bad ones.
