I think I have cooled on Bones as well. I initially saw him as a Jaylen Nowell replacement with some team control, but as I looked into it, Malone plays unflashy Bruce Bronson in front of him. Hyland is high energy, but he often abandons his team defense responsibilities.

Look at the guys Malone would play in front of Beasley. Yeah Bones is not perfect, but he wouldn't be available if he was. Having 2.5 years left on rookie deal is HUGE for our salary situation.

Last year, remember how Malik Beasley shot 37.7% on 15.3 3-pointers per 100 possessions? This season, Bones Hyland is shooting 37.8% on 14.3 3-pointers per 100 possessions.

We are 18th in 3-point makes and attempts and 19th in 3-point percentage. Last year, we were 1st in 3-point makes and attempts and 12th in 3-point percentage. We miss Malik Beasley.

Would you be interested in adding 2021-22 Malik Beasley on 2.5 years of dirt-cheap money before restricted free agency? I think most would.

I'd still be in on Bones...not a perfect player by any means. But he can be your Nowell replacement @ bare minimum & has a much higher ceiling if developed correctly. Very much gives me an Immanuel Quickley vibe....far from a finished product only 2 yrs in, but has a real chance. I'd love to have IQ now...but that ship has probably sailed already. Buying now on Bones gets us in at a price point we can afford...trust the player development team....we're going thru immaturity issues right now anyways...throw in 1 more & let's go thru that learning curve 1 time vs multiple times.

100% agreed...Malone & Finchy...too completely different coaches. We've done relatively well with talented young bb players that may have some maturing still to do (ie--Ant, Naz, JMac, etc & now kinda with a Minott type).

If you could get Bones...could you get a 2nd still for a Forbes &/or Nowell? They'd be expendable assuming you'd rather have a backcourt bench of WMJ, Lil Jmac, Rivers, & Bones.

Move the other two for whatever you can get...maybe bring a PJ Dozier back to be a bench 3?

I’d much rather have hard nosed defenders. Especially if we are keeping Dlo.
Steph Curry—————Ricky
Michael Jordan———Ant
Lebron James————KG
Kevin Garnett————Love
Nikola Jokic—————KAT

Bones isn't perfect, but he does shoot at a very high level which we really need. If we can get him for Naz I'd be all for it.

John Collins+de'andre hunter+capela for Gobert, McDaniels and Prince.

I don't see why we would do that?

McDaniels isn't being traded. Collins isn't a good fit with Kat.

We would be a well oiled machine on offense.. Spacing would be amazing. We're getting capela too. So if we need defense we just play capela instead of Collins. McDaniels and DeAndre Hunter are pretty much even in terms of impact.

JMac way better...primarily because he's available every night. I'm a Hunter fan, but he's notoriously hurt a lot. Also, not sure but isn't Jaden quite a bit younger as well?

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10062655-2023-nba-trade-watch-best-available-guards-and-their-top-landing-spots

DLo and DLo to the Suns

Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus cited league sources that believe Phoenix could be a possible destination for D-Lo, who is reportedly a top trade candidate for the Minnesota Timberwolves. The two sides were apart on a contract extension, and because the Wolves will be above the cap this summer, they can’t afford to lose him for nothing in free agency.

Russell shouldn’t be the Suns’ long-term answer at the 1 beyond the CP3 era, but as a backup and stopgap starter? There are certainly worse options than a guy who’s averaging 17.8 points and 6.2 assists a night on a career-high 46.6 percent shooting from the field and a career-high 39.1 percent shooting from deep.

The difficulty is in finding a trade that properly compensates Minnesota, since expiring contracts do them little good. Crowder, Shamet and Saric make up enough salary to balance out Russell’s $30.3 million deal, but an unprotected pick is a necessity to avoid including Cam Johnson. That group of incoming players is a tad underwhelming, and it also screws over the Wolves’ depth at point guard, so Cam Payne takes Saric’s place:

That might not be anywhere close for the Timberwolves. Even if they’re looking to trade Russell, that doesn’t mean they’re content punting the season by not getting a starting-caliber point guard in return. If that’s a requirement, a third team would need to be looped in unless they really like Payne for some reason.

Unprotected pick for DLO? Yes please. But no Shamet.

McDaniels is way better than Hunter defensively, impact wise and is cost controlled at a tiny amount for an extra year.

This deal is horrible for Minnesota.

We are going to lose whatever trade we make that has Naz involved. We have to figure out a way to keep young talent on this team, figure it out Connelly.

Also, get Nowell outta here lol

I think it’s possible someone will overpay for Naz even if he needs a new contract . GS probably wishes they had Naz over Wiseman lol

I think we should make this happen, if suns decide to blow up their team. Granted if Booker demands a trade also.

Edwards+McDaniels+Prince and filler for Booker and Bridges.

Gobert to nets for Simmons or Toronto for Siakam

Dlo
Booker
Bridges
Simmons
Towns

Dlo, Booker, Simmons, Towns are all buddies. This will be the BFF team.

I love Naz too, but I don’t see a way to find him enough minutes here. This guy could start at center for some teams, but he is clearly behind Rudy and KAT on the center depth chart. His numbers playing next to KAT have been bad. Can he become a PF? That seems unlikely.

For the sake of Naz and his career, we need to find this guy a better home. Tonight’s performance was heartwarming, but hopefully helps his next contract and increases his trade value. What better audition tape for a team that wants to compete in the playoffs is there than to see him beat the champs in overtime!

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
