One of the good things about picking late is that at least you don't have to take as many risk on the big upside guys who could easily bust. There are a lot of less sexy prospects but they may have some more solid, NBA ready skills.
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.

Yeah, like I said in my thread, there are like 5 guys I wouldn't mind whatsoever in that #13-#19 range.

BTW, evidently Flip has a list of five players he's considering at 13. Anyone wanna take a guess at who they are?

The real question is who he will take in a panic when his 5 players are all taken before #13.

Since everyone is convinced the midrange jumper will be a staple of our new offense, who should be targeted in the draft?

It worked out okay for us the last time that happened

Not really. Dieng looks like a player, but I would think that he would have been gettable without wasting a spot on Shabazz.

So you would've drafted Dieng at 9?

I don't think Shabazz is a "waste". He looked better and better as the season went on.

2 solid guys who will have clear roles in the league in Stauskas and McDaniels.

Then a upside pick in Lavine who we stash in the D-league for a year.

This would please me. 8-)

We'd be lucky if they kept 2 of the picks. 3 would be out of the question, they wouldn't be able to control themselves from turning that into money.

After watching more full games of Lavine he's just too raw to take ahead of other guys. His body is one thing.. but he just doesn't understand a lot of the fundamentals of the game. He litterally only has a jumpshot and athleticism. And he hasn't refined either of his main qualities either. Im hoping the Lakers take him with their first pick.

Im back on the Stauskas bandwagon

But I'm starting to open up to James Young a bit

i don't think i'd be a very good scout because like 2/3 of the draft seems like awesome additions to the roster to me

LOL! Nice!

For what it's worth, I think the top 3 are awesome, 5-8 are kinda meh, but have the most potential left, 9-13 is another tier with like stauskas and them, then 14-19 is a lot of depth not that much worse than what's left by the time you get to #13. I see a couple "Gorgui Dieng" like impacts coming in that 14-19 range, where if you were to re-draft in a year or two a couple of them would crack the top 10.

I'm in love with the idea of Russ Smith @ 40 if possible. I don't know what Flip's idea is for the team, but I want a fearless team with swarming defense that attacks in transition, and Russ Smith is perfect for that. Seems like he has good touch around the rim too.

If healthy, I think Embiid is in a tier by himself. If he's not, then who knows. But assuming he's healthy this is how I see it:

1. Embiid
2-4. Exum, Wiggens, Parker
5-11. Smart, Randle, Vonleh, Gordon, Saric, Nurkic, Ennis
12-30.
