Like I said... keep jimmy. We have no leverage. Better to just go into next year with the big cap space instead of junk deals in return for jimmy.

Somebody post the deal they agreed upon. I'm not trusting these Miami/Butler leaks.

O yeah, lets just lose top15 player for nothing. Dunn, #7 pick and LaVine for cap space.

Absolutely. I don't trust that an agreement was made and agreed to and then we demanded more. As a matter of fact I call BS on that.

Even if all we got out of the deal was two years of Butler and cap space that is easily worth more than Dunn, Markkanen and LaVine.

Usually FRP is a price tag for 20mil expiring. So Thibs would overpay again.

If there really is a mandate it can only mean that Glen made a promise to KAT to get rid of Butler and KAT is a POS liar. There is no other explanation that makes any sense. Only an unbelievable idiot would make a mandate to get rid of a top ten player for a piece of crap offer. Glen might not know basketball, but I don't think he is yet an unbelievable idiot.

I have not read anything like this. Last I read was Richardson, Whiteside, FRP for Dieng and Butler.

No he's not. He got rid of two undesirable players and got Two years of Butler which probably means two years in the playoffs.

That was purely speculation. I don't think any offer details have been released. Last I heard officially was that Miami was unwilling to part with Richardson under any circumstances.

I don’t see anything worthwhile coming back. Just bad contracts. Butler for bad contracts isn’t worth it. Doesn’t even matter if he’s lost for nothing.

Re: Butler has requested a trade (Part II)
This "The deal was done and then they demanded more" fits right in with the "We can't work like this; we have tried to be reasonable, but not like this" thing Butler and/or opposing teams have been pushing. Which is why I believe it's probably more of the same.KGdaBom wrote:Pillendreher wrote:Somebody post the deal they agreed upon. I'm not trusting these Miami/Butler leaks.

He doesn't want to stay in Minnesota! So the way to get the most money is to force his way out so his Bird rights transfer rather than to wait until free agency to leave.
The question is why doesn't he want to stay? Money is the only thing being cited yet Minnesota owns the rights to give him the most. If there's more he and Thibs who are taking all the damage are actually protecting the ones causing all the problems whether that's the the owner not wanting to pay him or situations with teammates.
You aren't getting it....I just explained why the trade request was made. Can't get more simpler than that.
At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter to me and you why he wants out. Neither of us have any control over it.

Tom Thibodeau still wants Butler to stay despite the uncomfortable nature of it all, then these Rockets will have to prepare as if there is no more help on the way. – via The Athletic

Which is probably why a deal hasn't happened yet....
Have people said those guys were in the deal, or just that those guys are who Minnesota is asking for in the deal? Major difference.

Re: Butler has requested a trade (Part II)
Haven't chimed in in this thread, here's my take.
1. Bad contracts - Yes, Dieng has a bad contract, but if this is the sticking point for trades not happening, just freaking keep him for now.
2. Bad attitudes - Whiteside's attitude is a problem, yes. If things could magically work out (new coach who can relate to players), he is a great option next to KAT against teams with big/strong centers. KAT's game is looking more like a forward to everyone.
3. Modern coach - Find one that can relate to young players, has a modern system. One that is willing to modify lineups (including starting) based on opponent matchups. Like starting Whiteside at the 5 against teams like OKC (Adams) and having him come off the bench against other teams without mammoth centers.
4. Josh Richardson - everybody knows he is the centerpiece. He's the perfect wing for this squad. Low maintenance, plays hard, great defender, the anti-wiggins really. Having him in the starting lineup alone would improve our overall defense as Rose would be back to the bench, which we all know that is DRose's role, high energy bench scorer.
5. Draft picks - If not getting a first is the deal breaker than get over it. Get Richardson, he's that important.
Maybe this new scenario, with new players, modern coach who can relate to players, etc. would light a fire under Wiggins. Seeing how hard Richardson and Okogie play, and having a motivational coach, maybe just maybe that could turn the tide.

Re: Butler has requested a trade (Part II)
Minnesota and Miami had been discussing deals that included a third team to take on salary, as well as doing a direct trade between only the Timberwolves and Heat, league sources said. Miami had softened on including guard Josh Richardson in versions of a possible deal for Butler, only to recoil once Minnesota pushed late for a sweeter return on the four-time All-Star forward, league sources said.
Oh my, look at that price tag. No wonder other teams couldn't match that. A role player! Wow!
