"How does this trade do that?"

In my proposed trade, we lose Randle, DDV, Rob, and Miller. Miller is a lost cause. I'm not a huge believer in Rob...as a starter on a championship caliber team. I think he ends up a nice backup PG and has a nice, lengthy career. DDV is a very good player on a very good contract. No doubt. But TSJ will thrive taking his minutes. Randle can ball, but he kills all offensive flow. I have no problem with Naz starting.

To me, Garland/Ant/Jaden/Naz/Rudy is a major improvement along with 2nd unit. TSJ 6th man. Mike plays 15 minutes a game. Also gives us depth off bench. You guys act like Miami was terrible last year. Highsmith and JJJr played 20+ minutes. Mike/TSJ/Jamie/Highsmith/JB is a solid 2nd unit.

Can't really compare an Eastern conference team to a Western conference team. With all due respect, those playing fields are nowhere close to being equal.

My only point being...not understanding why nobody thinks these 2 are rotational pieces. I'm lost. All good.

They were the 8th and 11th men on the 10th (37-45) place team in the East. JJJr played 1 combined minute in the 2 Play In Games, and 6 MPG in their Playoff series.

So our solid 2nd unit is a 38 year-old PG, a SG that barely played 300 minutes last year, the 8th man and a deep reserve from a team that finished 8 games under .500 in the EAST and a rookie that most think is a project that may or may not earn minutes this year?

You can paint a picture however you want. Yours is much different than mine. We shall see.

Our second unit is already terrific. Rob (or Mike)/DDV/NAZ/TSJ/Joan... i do not want to have another.

To me it's very unlikely that we can get what we need from trade. We need Dilly, TSJ and Le Berricade to play well. We need DDV to return to his NY form. We need Randle to be good all year not just the second half. We need Ant to get even better. We need Jaden to bring it on offense as well as defense. We need Naz threatening to be the 50-40-90 player he can be. We need Mike to give us 20-30 quality minutes. We need Rudy to hold off father time for a few more years.

He's fine. A bit overpaid. If he was closer to $20-25 million, I would be much more enthusiastic about going after him.

Note: Before he got traded and paid, I was probably the loudest fan here calling for him as the added piece in a Towns/Randle swap at the time. So it's not a matter of talent for me. It's a combination of his contract and having a similar player type already on the roster in Dillingham for a small fraction of the price.

It can be good to do things quickly as long as it's not too quick to the point of hasty..

Or did you mean a basketball player? He's OK. I don't want to trade for him.

If there weren't salary factors just fit who do you think makes our team better, Quickly or DDV?
Based on your loudest fan comment I'm guessing Quickly.

Honestly I think it's pretty close between the two....

Right and since DDV hits the cap for less than half of Quickly it's an easy choice not to trade for him.

Randle for Monk and a pick? I don't think so.

I'm sure you all have been missing my asinine trades. Here's another.
(this trade works with or without Rozier)

Mia IN: Randle, Trent Jr., and Clark
Mia OUT: Wiggins, Jovic, Rozier(???), FRP

Mil IN: Rudy, Jovic, Wiggins, DDV, RD, 2 FRP
Mil OUT: Giannis, Trent Jr., Prince

MN IN: Giannis, Prince, and Rozier (???)
MN OUT: Rudy, Randle, DDV, RD, Clark, FRP

PG: Mike and Rozier (or FA)
SG: Ant/TSJ
SF: Jaden/TSJ/Prince
PF: Giannis/Naz/Prince/Jaden
C: Naz/Giannis/Jaden/JB/FA

Any trade where we get Giannis and don't give up Ant has to be considered. Is this the Rozier who will be banned for life and possibly go to prison? :o

Unfortunately, I think the only gangster movie parallel here would be Milwaukee putting a hit on Tim Connelly for trying to steal Giannis.

I like Immanuel Quickley, but would need a bit more value to feel comfortable with trading Julius Randle for him.
