Ish
We have really F upped things the last few years with terrible decisions. We should be a 50 to 55 win club if the right moves were made, and NOT made.

Nah, I don't think the right decision would've been pinning our hopes and dreams on Ish Smith...

He started for them Wednesday. Although he had only 5 points, he did have 10 assists, 10 boards, and 4 steals. Dude is far from washed and we should have brought him in. Hell, he WANTED to come back - how many former Wolves have said that? (Yes, I know he's not shooting well this year.) Still, FO is either dumb as hell or someone on the team has a grudge.
It’s nice that he found a team where he could start, because he was pushing to be a starter here last year. I don’t think we could offer him a starting role. I like the guy, but we are moving past that phase. Ant, Conley and probably JMac are all in front of him, and the Wolves might want to see what they have with NAW going forward, and try to find him minutes too. Would PatBev be a positive influence or negative one if he was buried on the bench for garbage minutes?
Lastly, remember, he was only on a $13 mil contract, and he still got waived. I’m happy for him that he had a good opening game in CHI, but don’t get your hopes up. A team would rather pay $13 mil for nothing rather than $13 mil for PatBev - that means something.
In no world should a team choose JMac over Bev

I don't consider it choosing McLaughlin over Beverley. The contracts didn't match up, so it was choosing Beverley or choosing McLaughlin plus other pieces.

Re: Updates on former Wolves
Interesting read from another site:
Russell, Beasley are Vanderbilt get to play in LA with Davis and James. Trade was great for those 3 guys.
Kessler gets starting role as a rookie in Utah next to Markkanen and shines. Trade was great for him.
Beverley gets to play in his home town, so that's fine with him.
But...
Edwards gets to stay in Minnesota with Gobert and Conley. The biggest loser is Edwards. Poor Ant, not consulted and found out his best friend Vanderbilt was traded away in "worst trade in last 30 years".
If I'm his agent I'm looking at ways for him to get out. If he's traded this summer he's extension eligible with his new team and he'll get paid.
What was Embiid talking with Ant about last night after the game???

Probably asking why the refs give Embiid so many foul calls when he initiates contact, and Ant doesn’t get legit calls?
Asking how to whine more effectively?

Ant is not in the same stratosphere as Embiid. I think NBA players view Joel and The Freak as the 2 best players in the game. Probably are.

It’s embarrassing how PHI fans can’t even acknowledge Jokic, who has actually WON mvp awards, versus the often-injured Embiid.
You know what stratosphere that Embiid and Ant don’t share? Fan popularity.
It will be interesting to see where Embiid goes when he gets hurt again, and demands a trade after the Sixers fail in the playoffs again.

You mean the joker who gets taken out of the game in late game defensive situations? You might be able fool MVP voters (80% white) but one group you can’t fool is your peers and like ant said Embiid is the MVP. Joel, or Freak I’m fine either way. I’m quite confident 99% of the NBA players would say it’s either the Freak, Joel.

Then you would be hilariously, embarrassingly wrong.
We can get a view or the NBA players results by seeing who they voted for, for the All Game.
Embiid came in third. In just the subset of East Coast, Front Court Players!
Embiid received 153 player votes to even make the All Star game roster, which was fifth. Do you know which two players got all 220 votes? Jokic and Giannis. But hey, 153 to make the All Star game is nice - not in the other two’s stratosphere’s though.
And hey, you realize 80% of those players that voted for Jokic aren’t white, right race-baiter? And if they don’t vote for Embiid to make an All Star team, then 99% aren’t saying Embiid is in contention for the freakin’ MVP.
“99% sure.” What silly, fact-less opinions you carry!

Re: Updates on former Wolves
Great game between Jazz and Magic tonight, too bad Jazz won.
* Fultz finally is playing at a level to show why he was the number 1 pick ahead of Tatum
* Chris Dunn had a good game also. I think the Wolves can use him now to replace Rivers for his defense, going to the basket, and ball handling. Definitely impacted the outcome of the game. Still can't justify why he was pick ahead of Hield, Murray, and Sabonis
* Kessler had two crucial offensive rebound and put back. It's starting to look legit to discuss when he may over take Gobert.

The Warriors lost their third straight, and we’re in a three way tie for 6-8th with GSW and DAL.
LAC is only a half game in front for the fifth seed.

Kendrick Perkins this you? What a horribly racist take. Jokic grew up in Serbia, speaking a different language, using a different alphabet from the vast majority of his NBA peers. But I guess all that matters is his skin color.
I don't believe Embiid is well liked by fellow players with all the trash talking and social media dragging he engages in.
Jokic is currently averaging a triple double as a big man with 63/39.8/81.6 shooting splits.
If that doesnt scream MVP I don't know what does. He's also played at least 72 games every year he's been in the league.
Embiid 's highest number of games played is 68, and he has seasons of 31, 51, and 51.
He's also only shooting 53.7% (a career high) and has been sub-50% in 5 of his 7 seasons while not taking a high volume of 3's (4 or less for his career).
The only thing that makes Embiid special is he takes a ridiculous amount of free throws so it does beg the question how much of his narrative is manufactured from the whistle he gets?
Because he does look like he's lost a significant bit of quickness and one has to wonder how long those knees are going to hold up.
I don't think he will play very far into his thirties.

Re: Updates on former Wolves
I love Josh, but I feel like he’s being a little dishonest with himself here.
He said that when they traded Dario to move up to #6, they said they wanted to give him more room offensively. Then, when they drafted Culver, he said, “how are they going to give me room? He plays my position.”
First, Culver wasn’t the target. Rosas thought he could get Garland, who is a point guard, not Josh’s position.
Second, they still started Okogie at the beginning of the season anyway, and he couldn’t provide offense.
I’m glad he said he loved Minnesota and the coaches, but I don’t think the organization did him wrong. Like most players, especially those drafted outside of the lottery, you have to perform to keep getting minutes. While his defense was great, Josh couldn’t get his shot to drop.

Re: Updates on former Wolves
I also think the whole "Josh Okogie Redemption Tour" may have been a bit premature.
After a blistering February (7 games, 5 starts) where he shot 51% overall and 46% from 3, he's turned back into Josh Okogie in March. 4 starts and he's shooting 32% overall and 26% from 3.
He's rapidly approaching his career averages across the board.

NBA center Felton Spencer dies at 55
Spencer was then selected with the No. 6 overall pick in 1990 by the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he spent his first three seasons in the league. He was named to the all-rookie team after his first season, where he averaged 7.1 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. Spencer also spent time with the Utah Jazz, Orlando Magic, Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks before he retired in 2002.

For those who complain we had to take Gobert out of certain plays in late game situations, LAL took DLo out of the last 2 critical plays too.
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
