What a dunk by Justin Patton! That is some serious length + jumping ability.

I'll be elated if Justin Patton somehow becomes like a Clint Capela with a jumpshot!

Seriously, there's about 5 guys I'd be fine calling up.

I'd agree, Patton and Brown should both get an opportunity at some point this season. Trimble, Jeffereson, and Millsap could also be options for the second two way contract (or 15th roster spot) if someone in the NBA rotation is out for any length of time. I think all of these guys have a real chance to be legitimate NBA players.

I have been watching all the Iowa Wolves games and am not really impressed with Patton. Considering Bazz, Tyus and even Payne dominanted when they were there, Patton just looks like he is average down there. Hopefully it is due to still getting in shape but he just has not impressed me at all. He has NBA size but right now not playing with NBA skill.
Brown and Trimble on the other hands, are both playing well enough to get a look in the Association

Also, we need the team to be moved to Rochester MN. Would be great and I could go to games all the time.

Can't agree with that.

The major difference between those three and Patton is those three were completely healthy when they were down there. Patton is just coming off a foot injury that sidelined him for 5 months. He's on a minutes restriction. Still, he's averaging 10/6/1/1/2 in only 17 minutes per game.

Patton is bigman. I don't see our guys feeding him enough in offense and tunneling to him in defense. So he won't dominate G-League at this point and I'm okay with it. He needs to stay healthy, run to the rim, keep being active in defense and learn nuances of team plays. The last thing for him now is empty stats in G-League.

I understand which is why I said I hope it is just getting into playing shape. I am not looking at his stats. As a matter of fact, I haven't even looked at them so that is not it. I am looking at how he moves and what he looks like compared to the other players. The numbers he has gotten are a bit "empty" when he gets a couple easy open dunks per game because the defense doesn't know how to play.
I am looking at when he mans up or gets single coverage and what he does. He hasn't beaten people when one-on-one nor shut anyone down. He hasn't been going and getting rebounds, just ones that come to him. He hasn't looked more athletic or coordinated nor skilled than others. Perry Jones has actually looked more skilled and athletic.
Again, this could be due to the injury and being very young still and new to the game. I think they need to leave him down there for most of the year and only bring him back up near the last month and playoffs so he gets a feel for what the NBA is but not thrown into it yet. IMO, he is a long term project maybe helping in 2 years when Taj is gone or resigns.

That was my thoughts also(Taj replacement), a long term project and not a person who could help this year or even next. I hope people don't get their hopes up that he's going to help anytime soon.

That's basically been the case the entire time. They were talking about him spending time in Iowa before he even got hurt this summer.

I hope one day Thibs will understand this. Put a shooter around Wiggins or Butler. Save Jimmy body and energy for playoff. Call Anthony Brown name.

I believe that's why Rubio was moved and Teague was brought in, the problem is that Teague looks more to run run the offense then taking more 3s. This team just needs to figure out how to play together which they sure aren't at this point.

That's correct. And I see some changes in Teague's play. He has been more aggressive taking that open 3s. However, I would like to see Brown as backup SF/SG. He has got size, some defense and he is natural shooter. He has been the main scorer for our G-League team, but he can thrive next to Wiggins and Butler as spot up shooter.

This is what too many people forget in the PG discussions. Teague has been doing what he was brought here to do on offense. Yet people want to swap him for a worse shooter or one with a lower volume.

Should he shoot more? Maybe. It's hard to say. I think part of it is about the flow of the offense. Can't blame him for not shooting on a possession where he doesn't get the ball. If he does shoot it, he's criticized for not throwing it into the post. He's in a no-win situation with this fan base.

Right, he's not Rubio(I absolutely understand why people like him) so some fans are picking apart his game because of that and this team doesn't really have an identity on offense at this point. Teague's putting up solid numbers, solid asts, 3pt% TS%,and steals with decent reb for PG. Teague's not one of the top problems for this team.

I would say Anthony Brown is a PF rather than SG.

Anyone sees Millsap to join Timberwolves as 3&D SF? He looks solid to me, hitting open 3s, rebounding and defending.

Iowa is on facebook live again tonight in case anyone wants to watch.

I think Brown is better than Millsap and should be the 3D guy we bring up. Problem is, Thibs doesn't play his bench so neither would get any time to develop.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
