Contracts are a two way street and players need to honor their commitments. There is no question that franchises are required to honor contracts, so I see it as perfectly legitimate that players be expected to do the same. At this point, I think giving in and accepting a terrible trade deal would be worse than the current situation.

I do not see how it helps the Wolves forcing him to play. Going to practice and games not engaged. As a fan is that something you want to see?

I have no problem forcing him to play. If Butler isn't professional about it, he's going to be hurting himself at least as much as the team. Plus, Butler's best (and maybe worst) character trait is he's too competitive, so I'm not terribly worried about him lacking engagement.

Is a bad trade because it's not fair value for a player of his talent or it's because the returned players cant help? And no one said who he Heat offered. It's only been reported who they are not willing to offer.

I sure do want to see it. Butler is always going to play well.

It's called Negotiations. Butler right now is better than Simmons, but of course much older. We have to start high just like they have to start low.

So your banking on if he returns, he playing hard. If your that confident I can understand. That is some strong faith.

It's a win compared to having Whiteside, Waiters, or Johnson on our team.
So none of those guys can help? You do realize all three played well vs the wolves.

It's Jimmy Freaking Butler. No way does he not play hard. That is part of why Riley is being an idiot lowballing us.

I don't think it takes much faith to expect Butler to play hard if he has to rejoin the team.

KG lol, seriously. I'm starting to sense you have something against the Heat. There some heat fans like that in regards to Raptors. You do realize those players lead their team to the playoffs.

I'm very serious. Sure it's possible they are better than our last bench guy. I definitely prefer all the old Bulls like Rose and Deng.

By far the highest bidder is the Rockets. Gordon, Tucker and a first.

When did the rockets make that offer? And you think those old veterans gonna play well with the Wolves?

Jimmy Butler for Aldrick Robinson straight up.
Thriving on mediocrity since '89.

A lot of players played well against the Wolves this year, doesn't mean they are what you trade Jimmy Butler for.

Butler>Cap Space>Whiteside and Waiters.

There is no reason for the Wolves to help Butler or the Heat.

You guys know who stands to get the most of the Heat not getting Butler?
It's Philly, remember they have the UNPROTECTED 1st round pick of the Heat on 2021.
If the Heat are stuck in salary cap hell and was not able to get Butler or any other star in the coming years.
That pick is gonna be worth a lot.

Sidenote, part of me wants to believe that Philly leaked the Ben Simmons thing just so the Heat either gut their team for a deal with Butler or be stuck in salary cap hell for years.

Anyways, carry on guys.
Hope a deal or a resolution to this whole ordeal gets done soon.
Can't wait for the season to finally start.

The problem is Waiters isn't that good for his large contract. Very likely we'd have to buy him out in a couple years. The problem with Whiteside is that I don't see us re-signing him after his two-year contract. Not for $25M. So, we would be left with nothing after two years. If you included a FRP, and it ended up being slotted 20th for example, we would have to strike gold for the trade to even being considered fair. The only player that makes the trade any sense, whatsoever, is if Richardson was in deal, as he would be the only valuable asset left after a few years. But, like I have said before, I don't care for the Heat's assets that much. I'd way rather have someone like Capela vs. Richardson. Anyways, my point is, I'd rather have a 50+ win season with Butler this year, then two 35+ win seasons with no valuable assets after two years - just because we honored Butler's trade request.

Is it tho? We didnt ask Jimmy to suffer. one can only feel "so sorry" for a millionaire athlete so much. Let him pout and not make any money. Players running this league is ridiculous
So your the type to stay in a bad relationship because you want to see her suffer

twix-Even if you take out Richardson, and its Waiters/Whiteside for Dieng and Jimmy

Waiters/Whiteside do nothing for the Wolves, we're stuck with them for at least the next 2 years, and with waiters another year beyond that.

X'ing out Jimmys 20 mill after this year gives us cap space for next year without it being tied with those 2 scrubs. We're stuck with Dieng who expires with Waiters, but at least we have players we want a year earlier...and not having to deal with a couple of stiffs.

how is that bad?

Mion and hassan r really bad contracts. I dont think you could move them even w a pick attached. Toothless is a bad contract too. riles really blew it giving him that deal. james johnson fell off last year and is another bad contract. then u got the dragon whose production flew off a cliff. two years? no way jose. your gonna have to ride the dragon's lackluster play out. then there's winny. that guy is a total bust. its too bad riles didnt accept those four picks when he had the chance. riley gonna regret it when he gives him 75mil. you guys got over $200 million in bad contracts over the next 3years plus whatever riles give winny.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
