Sixers look shot without Simmons. Boston without Hayward is roasting them. Even a center as great as Embiid, as talented on defense, can't do much to elevate his team without some elite wing/guard play. Makes me sad how low the value of
Bigs is, they are still important but damn, its almost impossible for them to carry a team these days.

Harris has been stinking it up for them too. That contract is only stopped from looking terrible by the fact they gave Horford a worse one.
I just had an interesting thought; what's the last highly touted young team packed with high draft picks that actually went anywhere? Portland with Oden and Roy went down due to injuries, OKC fell apart more or less after the Harden trade, everyone loved us a few years ago and we're still at the bottom...I mean, ****, who's the last #1 pick that won a championship? Outside of Lebron?

The answer to your last question is Kyrie.
There's been some various levels of success. Blake's Clippers and Derrick's Bulls had some good teams. Dwight's Magic made it to the finals. But it's interesting that of No. 1 picks before 2015, the only one still with his original franchise without changing teams during his career is John Wall.

Kyrie won that title with LeBron. Doesn't really count.

Even though it didn't last as long as it should have, OKC did have a championship window, unlike Portland with Oden and especially not like us.
Philly seems like a poor mans OKC, but I wouldn't write them off yet. Embiid and Simmons are still pretty young.

Pretty sure the Nuggets, OKC, Portland will not make the playoffs next season. Warriors 100% would be in. I think we have a good chance to make it without significant injuries.

I think only way wolves make it is if the two first round rookies are instant help (crossing my fingers on Edwards and Anthony at 17) and that Culver takes a huge jump.

How many of those top picks were targeted to be the youngest underdeveloped kids with the most hype that could be drummed up? If they are the youngest, they often get the longest leash. The teams can sell fake hope seats during that time as they develop the player to go sign their first contract with someone else when they don't match the hype, or if they do even hint at reaching it then you have a decision to make overpaying them Max deals that makes everything harder to build.

Now Emiid being called out. The last couple of years Towns has been ripped to shreds for being soft and not leading his teams the playoffs like other bigs but once again we see that you need at the team, Sixers are not the same as they were and suddenly people are saying Embiid has all these holes and needs to work on a lot. Two years ago he was perfect. It takes a team folks. You put KAT, Embiid, Jokic, Gobert, etc on crap team they will get crap results.

Luka is unreal, wow.... that's the talent you need to build a franchise around. Dallas is lucky as hell, I said it in his rookie year, Luke>Dirk. I would take Luka over him to start a team 100/100 times.

Nuggets down 1-3. Yikes!
LOL best thing about watching the playoffs as an outside observer is seeing all the fanbases meltdown. This is from Nuggets reddit

Getting sick of watching this team. Same thing every night getting abused in the pick and roll. Team is soft because that's the mentality malone brings. Cant wait to see him gone. Never once did I think he was a competent coach.
Under a better coach, I truly believe that Murray could be more a more consistent, like 25ppg at least, and explosive scorer. Malone's offensive scheme is stuck in the 90s. It's so outdated and ineffective.
No, this is correct. Malone has to go. I love him, and so do the players....but this happened in GS. They all loved Marc Jackson as their coach, but he wasn’t the guy to take them to the promise land. The firing was criticized, but once Kerr stepped in, it became apparent why.
If he can’t get the guys to play defense and stop a dude (a great one, but a dude on an above average nba team) from averaging 40/game in the playoffs after letting portland win in 7 in an entirely winnable series...sorry man. Stakes are too high. You either win and stay or you don’t, learn from it, and try to do better next time. He’ll get another opportunity and I wish him well, but this is not the long term home.

Re: ***Around The League 2020 Bubble Thread***
One thought. Many fans mentioned that Embiid is better defender as KAT. Which is true. But look at Embiid in drop scheme against BOS.
Many fans said that Jokic improved as defender with Millsap, yes he improved, but still in playoffs UTA always look to score against him. I mean what we are expecting from KAT next season, what kind of improvement? Yes, he must get better at reading situation, but I think main improvement will come from better screen technique (screen assists, overall PnR execution), better decision making (dealing with double teams), better passing. I wonder if NBA teams kind of adopted and learned how to attack drop scheme making bigmen look again uncomfortable. On other hand, KAT is an ideal weapon against drop scheme. Team shooting was first thing to maximize KAT strengths, next thing will be decision making passing and team chemistry.

I feel like the bubble is showing the importance of elite offensive talents over defense.

I'd say elite offensive talents in elite team offense. For instance, Luka in top NBA DAL offense.
