Re: The Joan Beringer Thread
Joan of Arc was an absolute badass and faced more in her life than probably any NBA player ever has or will. It would be amazing if Beringer can earn a nickname based on her.

I'm certainly not giving up that Nickname. It's such a natural for a guy from France named Joan. I found this which said an alternate name for her was Joan Beringer.
Yes, Joan of Arc, also known as Joan Beringer, is widely known by the nickname "The Maid of Orléans". She also referred to herself in letters as "Jeanne la Pucelle" ("Joan the Maiden") or "la Pucelle" ("the Maiden").

Are you just kidding or got tricked by AI. I entered both names in Google and here is what Google AI said: Here's a more detailed look:
Joan of Arc:
Her full name, as recorded in historical documents, was often "Jeanne d'Ay de Domrémy" or variations thereof, related to her birthplace. She was never recorded as "Joan d'Arc" during her lifetime. The name "Joan of Arc" became more widely used later, particularly after her death and canonization.
Joan Beringer:
She is a fictional basketball player, recently drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves, with the surname "Beringer". This name is used in the context of the 2025 NBA Draft.

Re: The Joan Beringer Thread
That won't be a viable nickname unless he starts hitting 3's. Even then it'll be the highly Catalanes French pronunciation of "Jzwa'hn"
From a fundamental standpoint it is better for a man to have nothing but be under the protection of Jesus Christ than for him to have everything he could ever want yet be completely without.

Re: The Joan Beringer Thread
First two possessions on the video:
- Joan runs in transition, eurosteps the first defender, decelerates and balances on one leg (!!!), and finishes through contact.
- Gets the ball, blows by his man with a quick first step, uses a low gather to slip past the help defender, and again finishes through contact.
He’s 18 years old, a raw big man, and he’s already making plays where he beats not just one, but two defenders on the same possession.
I mean, are bigs even supposed to do that at 18?!

Re: The Joan Beringer Thread
The more I watch this guy, (and yes I understand it's mediocre talent he plays against) dude has insane movement for his size. This is next level athleticism. Has potential dpoy.
Personally would prefer he stays overseas next year to focus on whatever he can on the offensive side. Team invests in a coach for him. The defensive instincts and pure athleticism seem so second nature to him. Gleague sucks

I don’t think they wanna waste a year of him overseas and not understudying for Rudy. I don’t think Rudy will be here that much longer, and the sooner JB/Jo-Ber takes over for him at center the better, hope he is a quick learner.

Agreed. I want him following Rudy around like a puppy dog.

I guess you can keep calling JB a medieval teenage girl/charlatan

This is also why I suspect he might not even spend much time in Iowa, to be honest. Maybe 3-5 games at most.

but I predict this will way go the way of your Gobear non sense for Rudy.
Yeah I tend to agree. Plus, I don't think it's even pronounced the same. His name actually sounds more like Johan to my ears.

Never trust AI or try AWS Bedrock insteadSee the NBA draft is not real. Cooper was assigned to DAL months ago. We never got draft compensation from DET for Towns trade. Sliver just wanted Towns in a big market
I found it on my first search of Joan of Arc. Next time I looked it was harder to find, but I did find it again.

Yo-ahn. That's what I'm hearing. Two syllables. I've never heard Joan of Arc broken into two syllables.

Jo-bear is a good nickname for him as well, but I'm sticking with Joan of Arc.

Go Bear was fun for me. I think this one will take root, but we will see.
