Scotto: Several teams have called to express interest in trading for Robert Covington, including the Utah Jazz, as Marc Stein first reported, the Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers, and others have also reached out, league sources told HoopsHype

I know Towns and RoCo are friends, and I noticed he rushed over when Covington appeared to hurt his leg late in the game.

A versatile, long SF that can space, finish, and play D. Essentially what we hoped McDaniels would be this year. I know Pat Bev is out, but Prince shouldn’t be playing crunch time minutes for us.

Would our 2022 first, McDaniels, Beasley, and filler be enough for Jerami Grant? Money becomes an issue because he wants a big extension, but if we were willing to fit in Simmons, you’d think we could fit in Grant. Is he worth assets and that money? Not sure.

I’ve been of this thinking for a while now. I think it would be a really bad move to make a trade that puts Vando on the bench with the improvement and work he has out on on both sides of the court.

Watching the games it is clear to me the minutes that need to be upgraded. Prince and Okogie are the weak part of the rotation even if they do bring something to the locker room. If the team think they can keep Grant happy and are willing to pay him I would be willing to offering Bolmaro, Naz, and a lightly protected first. Not trading Jaden though. A forward rotation of Grant, Vando and McDaniels would be a nightmare for other teams to see on defense. Then find a replacement center for Naz who can actually play with KAT.

Would like to have Roco back as well if it is bargain bin trade. I wonder how similar a deal we could see to what PJ Tucker got in a trade to the Bucks.

I would LOVE RoCo back.

He’s having a down year but he’s still a difference maker on D and imagine the open 3s he would get due to the fact that KAT/DLO/Ant get all the attention.

Imagine the 3s Mcdaniels takes and give them to RoCo

For the longest time, I've wanted to upgrade Vanderbilt. Not anymore. Not right now.

I don't think we have the requisite assets available to do so without depleting our resources considerably. Use bench pieces to find better fits for our second unit.

I know those guys seem like their value is tanked, but I'm not sure. The league never held our pieces in as high esteem as we did, so not sure our season has altered much in terms of their trade values.

I'm wondering about a trade centered around Malik Beasley for Julius Randle.

1. New York targeted Beasley in RFA and was reportedly very high on him.
2. Finch coached Randle in NO and was part of him finding his game.
3. We need a big, whether to start or come off the bench.
4. Randle's time in NY seems over, and trade value may not be what it once was.

The problem with Grant is that if he accepts his true role he is overpaid now and going to be massively so on the extension he is looking for.

Whoever gives him that next deal is going to spend the entirety of the contract looking to get out of it

Knicks have a few players with high upside that play Beasley's position, there's really no need for him

I haven't been following the Kicks too closely this year. Have they soured on him that much in less than a year? I thought he was their savior.

he's still the best (or 2nd best MAYBE if Rose was healthy) on a team that has had similar record to Wolves all season

he's having a down year for sure, but his salary isn't that bad, he's the 47th highest paid player in NBA even with the big new extension

things seem worse because its NY, I'm sure the Knicks are disappointed he didn't maintain his previous seasons level, but he's still a positive, "winning" player

I'd steer well clear of Randle and would rather keep Beasley.

The guy is a black hole with a penchant for taking ill advised jumpers and just an overall low IQ and EQ player.

Randle has made last year look like a random outlier and reverted to his previous level of play which given the size and length of his contract makes him undesirable

With Hardaway's injury, would Dallas be interested in Beasley?

Randle would hate the role he would have in this team.

Would people be happy with a Beasley for Covington swap or disappointed?

I'd be happy. Beasley hasn't been the same since he got suspended last year, he's been on a roller coaster consistency wise.

One thing RoCo always brought was elite team defense even when his shot was broke. I don't expect that to change if he gets a reunion with Minny.

He would be my #1 trade target, I hope we don't shake up the roster too much

DLO
Ant
RoCo
Vanderbilt
KAT

with Naz, Nowell, Bev, Jaden off the bench is a pretty nice balanced squad that could upset a team in the playoffs

I would be happy. Opens up some money for a free agent big and improves our forward rotation.

Underrated point here. Could actually see this, along with smart extensions for guys like Nowell, Beverley and Reid.

Beasley for RoCo

Prince, Okogie, Little Mac for Gallo and the Hawks second rounder.

Sign Cousins or WCS for the rest of the season.

RoCo is still a great help defender, so we could put Vando on the better offensive player and allow RoCo to his strength defensively. Rico’s ego isn’t big so depending on match up you could still start Beverly.

What we lose offensively moving Beasley, we regain with Gallo off the bench. I think Nowell and Gallo could be a nasty offensive punch off the bench. Not a long term contract either and could be good trade fodder next season. Plus we add to our arsenal of 2nd rounders.

DLo, Bev, Wright
Edwards, Nowell, Bolmaro
RoCo, McDaniels
Vando, Gallo, Knight
Towns, Naz
