People hype of Lavines athletic ability to the point where people think thats all he can do.
He can create his own shot and get off a jumper at any time. In the NBA this is an important skill. And I don't think there is anyone on our team than can do this off the dribble.
He can also handle in transition but I'm not sold on him in pick and roll situations. In the half-court he should be regulated to coming off screens and curls, attacking from the wing, and spotting up in the corner.. This is where his athleticism also shines because he gets so much lift on his jumpers. He's a shot maker. And once he puts on weight he has the potential to be a deadly slasher. Offensively I love his fit with Rubio.
I lean towards taking him with the Boston deal if Stauskas isn't available. The intrigue for a possible rebuilding team like us will be Lavine being a draft and stash candidate. He will be in and out of the D-league and won't be counted on to play.
Flip has said he doesnt want more than 2 rookies. But thats not a big deal when only 2 out of the 3 will play.
