What they do in training or workouts is absolutely not news for me, a whole lot of NBA bigs can stroke it from 3 in 1 to 0 training sessions, we know Towns can shoot, that is not really news.
But the hype has to continue, there are 24 days left and the reporters have to sold somethin.

Can't post tweets because I'm at work, but Ford and the draft express guys are watching Towns, Russell, and WCS workout in LA (not for the Lakers) right now. Givony has said something like Towns makes these drills look like an "absolute joke;" Schmitz, the DX scout who does the videos, said if the season wasn't enough, watching Towns for 5 minutes in drills makes it obvious he's the #1 prospect in the draft; and I think Ford said Towns knocked down 11/13 NBA 3's at one point. Also quite a bit of nice stuff being said about WCS (jumper, handle, etc).
They've posted some video/pics as well, Towns looks in great shape.

WTF?
He're a definition I found of ectomorph with a 2 second google search:
An ectomorph is a typical skinny guy. Ecto’s have a light build with small joints and lean muscle. Usually ectomorph’s have long thin limbs with stringy muscles. Shoulders tend to be thin with little width.
"Passive loner" is not in there. It seems like the author of that piece is projecting.

dam wish we were in a position to pair up Towns and WCS together, that would be incredible...

Talk about two contrasting attitudes. Cliff Alexander could be much better than he was in college, but I'm not sure he has the motor that Portis has. Which is going to be important for both guys. I'm not a fan of Alexander deferring the blame for his play on anyone, but him.

Well, don't forget that according to the Philly posters Dieng was far and away the best timberwolf all year. They'd probably happily give up the #3 for him and just a bit of a sweetner...

You pair Towns and any of the bigs in the lotto next year, goodness gracious...Towns and Skal or Zhou Qi. Our defense would be completely fixed.

I'm assuming that Towns, WCS, and Russell are all being trained by the same trainer. It's pretty common for a trainer to invite reporters in to watch one of their workouts to get good press out there. Ford and Givony will frequently have articles after watching them. Okafor must be being trained by someone else.

His form is disgusting..but then again he's 6'11 and no one is going to touch that shot.

Re: Poll: Who should the Wolves take with the #1 overall pick?
Anyway, I expect Towns to be a situational 3 point shooter, I honestly doubt his off the dribble game, or shooting mechanics, plus his feet, are good enough to make him a regular threat from that range unless he is just open, like lets say Pau Gasol has been in his career.
He can make those, but he is not going to be a player that start in NBA settings from that range, he is going to attack driving in from midrange, I am more interested in seein his midrange game, array of moves, fluidity with the ball, dribbling, and fakes, than in seein him shooting threes with no opposition.
Not really seeing what Givony, Schimtz and Ford are selling here.
I saw the video of WCS making three threes too, he has shown he can shoot it in training sessions before, I remember seen that in 12', but his release is slow and he struggles to create those situations in game, so it doesnt really matter, because it doesnt add anything to his game, it could be a benefit for him if he keeps improving his FT% though.

I'll be pissed if we're in position to draft Skal next year. He should easily be top 3 next year. With our roster, the only way we'd be drafting that high is if the entire roster decides to get hurt at the same time again.
And Zhou Qi strikes me as a guy that will either be at the very op of the draft or in the second round (if he's in next year's draft at all), not in the late lottery/15-16 range where hopefully the Wolves will be drafting. Someone like Cheick Diallo, Dragan Bender, or Domantas Sabonis would be interesting.
That's another nice thing about Towns as a prospect, his defense + offensive versatility should mean that you can stick pretty much any big man next to him and their games should gel.

Hmmm that is strange. They may have changed the definition at one point; my Webster's Dictionary from 1981 uses the phrase "passive loner" verbatim.

Re: Poll: Who should the Wolves take with the #1 overall pick?
I might be going a bit far here, but if Towns can translate his shooting to the NBA, I could see him being a bigger, more mobile Kevin Love on offense with his 3-point range, high level outlet and high post passing, and limited but effective post game.
Edit:
Comparing their college numbers, I probably am going too far. Love was REALLY good at UCLA.

You think the Wolves will be in the playoffs? You do know we won't have our pick if it is outside the top 12 right?

We should be late lottery, somewhere between 7-14.

If the team can stay healthy, I think it's a very real possibility. Of the Western Conference playoff teams, I could see Memphis, San Antonio, Dallas and Portland all falling off next year due to age (San Antonio, Dallas) or free agency (Memphis, Portland), with OKC being the only outside team definitely getting back in next year.
Maybe not the playoffs, but I think the team will be closer to the playoffs then they will be to another top 3 pick.
You do know we won't have our pick if it is outside the top 12 right?
Completely slipped my mind.
