Lays a monster. This one actually makes a lot more sense than I thought it would.
Atl IN: Rudy, DDV, RD, Keshad Johnson
Atl OUT: Young, Okongwu, Djurisic
Mia IN: Randle and Okongwu
Mia OUT: Bam and Keshad Johnson
MN IN: Young, Bam, and Djurisic
MN OUT: Randle, Rudy, DDV, RD
Young/Ant/Jaden/Naz/Bam
Mike/TSJ/JB

Even when they ultimately move on from Gobert, I just don't know if they'll completely go away from a defensive mindset. And that's exactly what trading for someone like Trae Young would signal to the guys. I'm not saying any trade return has to be an all-league defender, but he can't be as big of a negative on that end as someone like Young is. Even with trading for Bam in the same trade, I just can't see it.
Also, I think the value leans too far in our favor. I like the idea of swapping out Rudy and Julius for Bam....which makes trading Rob and Donte for Trae extremely unrealistic value.

I didn't think Bam was that expensive.
I was thinking:
Rudy and RD for Trea
Randle and DDV for Bam
But I ultimately think this trade makes all 3 teams better.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

That would make Bam cheaper than KAT was to acquire which I don't personally think is the case. I think they are similarly-talented offensive hubs as big men, but Bam has a big advantage on defense.

Re: Trade Talk (Part 17): Early Offseason Planning
Different version getting Daniels to Minnesota…
To Pistons: Randle/DDV
To Hawks: Ivey
To Wolves: Daniels/Tobias/Pistons 1st
Hawks signed NAW, he can backfill Daniels next to Trae, Ivey gives them offense.
For Wolves, trade saves almost 9M and completes their lineup. Tobias expires when Daniels needs to get paid - and if he wants to stay re-signed for much less.
Gobert/Reid/Beringer
Reid/Tobias/McDaniels
McDaniels/Edwards/Miller
Edwards/Daniels/TSJ
Daniels/Conley/Dilly
Plus have TPE or room for exception level player.

If Josh Giddey picks up his Qualifying-Offer, what would you all be willing to add to Mike Conley to make a deal happen?

Yeah.
We have no PG of the future. Rob def isn't it, back up quality at best.
Giddey is bad on defense but we'll have an actual PG.

Is this for Dyson Daniels? Because no way ATL moves him without better draft comp. Also not sure why he's playing point for us.

Bench would be paper thin, any solves there? I don't think Miami gives up Bam like that. They are too stingy.

Then forward that Pistons 1st to Hawks for your value needs.
Daniels would be a perfect guard for Wolves. Wolves don’t need a PG. They need an ideal guard next to Edwards - and Daniels is that!

He is also an ideal guard next to Trae, and MIP and cheap yet to be RFA.
He might also be the second best guard/wing we'd have.
All that said. Even if we get over the lack of facilitation,
No way ATL gives him up like that.

Maybe not. But Pistons just signed NAW who can backfill some of Daniels brings to their lineup. And in the trade they get a pretty good - all though different type - of SG too.

Wolveswin I'm sorry as it seems like I'm always shooting down your trade proposals. Maybe I overvalue the players we have now. I personally prefer DDV to Nembhard and greatly prefer Randle to Toppin.

Would anyone do DDV and Rob for Ivey if they can't come to an extension with him?

Ivey ain’t worth that he’s proven nothing, can’t defend still and is coming off an injury riddled season.

We ALL over value ‘our’ players. I mean, simple exercise, take a Wolves player you feel has X value and go to another team’s board and offer for a player you see as equal value. Sit back and watch the fireworks.
It’s why the Hawks and Pistons make so much sense - they are win-now teams hungry to be relevant in wide open East. And Randle is an awesome win-now piece…in which Wolves just so happen to have depth. Trade from a position of strength to improve a weakness.

I doubt Indiana does this, but sign me up. I love Nembhard and think he will be all-star caliber as long as Haliburton is out.
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
